Megasquirt trouble when starting HOT
trouble when starting HOT
i seem to have a problem when trying to crank the car over at about 200*F-210F (according to tempature on Megatune)- btw new coolant temp sensor was replaced today.
it seems to crank and not wanna turn on till tempature lowers to below 200*F mark.
also on Megatune tach rpms never really go above 180RPMS when cranking. grounds were cleaned today and tightened, not sure what really is going on.
any ideas?

If you use flood clear mode (foot to the floor while cranking) does that help it start?
If it does then that would indicate that it's probably too rich on hot start. If not, then probably too lean.
This is configurable under Startup/Idle - Cranking Pulsewidth (on MS2Extra).
Mine looks like this:

Paul.

Since Jobro's car starts ~160rpm then it has got to be something else.
The plugs arent fouled are they, or the wrong type/heat rating?
If they are fine, then it's simple got to be too lean for hot starts.. which is configurable as i said above...
What do you think?

brand new stock ngk plugs installed 3 days ago. somtimes rpms on megatune tach drops to 58rpms, but engine is actually cranking higher from what i can hear.
mine is setup with injector PW and not %. so its kinda confusing to compare yours to mine.

Try turning the cycling the key to run position a couple times before attempting a hot start. It's possible you've got vapour lock problems, and a few pump priming cycles will purge the vapour and properly pressurize the rail. If that helps with startup, then you may have issues with a leaking fuel pump check valve. The stock Mazda efi setup runs the fuel system at higher pressure at hot start by venting the fuel pressure regulator reference line to atmosphere via a solenoid valve. This is likely to address similar problems.

well today it wouldnt start at cold. tach on megatune wouldnt even cap 150RPMS. the lights onthe megasquirt would flash sometimes, the only way i was able to start it was push starting it and it stayed on.
no it doesnt say its reseting, just either showslow cranking rpms or none at all. had to push start it to get it going. i had jumper cables on it as well while trying to crank it.
