TPS Ideas

Currently im using a S4 tps on a s5 na throttle body, flipped over for use on a turbo build. Im still running a V2.2 MS1, running extra 029Y4. When I callibrate it, closed throttle shows a value of 9 and wot shows a value of 36~40. TPS gauge shows a nice even sweep from 0% to 100% throttle, however "tps adc" will only sweep to 36~40. Is this common? How should i go about fixing this? Ive tried 3 other known good tps with the same results.

its supposed to do that. if 40 is the max number the tps will reach, then thats 100 percent of its range.

well, the S4 plunger isn't any different than one of the S5's dual-range plungers, and can be used on the S5's "cam wheel" actuator, which is what I'm currently using to get a full-range sensor out of the assortment of parts I've collected. However, I've noticed at WOT & high RPM, I get a lot of noise which I think is the plunger physically vibrating on the cam, so its less than ideal

the s5 unit has a two tps units. a full range and a short range. you can retro fit the full range unit to the short range units bracket.

its a bitch to get out though.

just get one from a haltech, and slap it on. never worry about it ever again. plus... rx7's tps sensors arent that great.

Oh, i agree that they aren't the best, just that they can be made to work as a full-range sensor. Ideally you'd want something that would be a rotating potentiometer-type, that you could fit to the end of one of the shafts (although if you still have the stock S4 OMP, this may be difficult) .

look in the haltech section about how they use a GM standard 20 dollar tps. you have to modify the TB very little to get it to work.
