Testing Trailing Plugs with Tuner Studio???

Hi all

It’s looking good.

I am using MS3-Pro on a 1986 RX-7 with stock unmodified crank angle sensor, coils and low impedance injectors with resistor pack. All the wiring is correct to Aaron’s video (Checked 4 times and recorded all connection on paper for future reference).

Loaded MS3-Pro firmware in to the car’s Mega Squirt (Good)
Have communications with MS in car with Lap top.

Took information for configuration from a MS3 program that I found on this forum.

I have not tried to start the car because of the following:

I test CAS as Aaron’s video and showed RPM (Good)
Test Spark Plugs with CAS (Good lots of Spark)
I tested MAP sensor as per video (Good)
I checked TPS goes from 0 to 100 (Good)
Water and air temps are working properly (Shows Room temperature good)
Tested PWM 02 fan relay (Good)
Tested PWM 03 for over heat light (Good)
Tested each injector out put A, B, C, D all (Good and working at correct injector locations)
Test Spark A Good both Leading plugs fire

Now the problem test Trailing plugs with Spark out put B LEADING PLUGS FIRE just like I was testing spark A. When I test Spark output C I get no spark on any plugs.

Please note the wiring is correct (All new from the MS in the car to the coils) and I even tried swapping plugs and another trailing coil from another car that runs no change. Yes there is power at the coils.
Note when I spin the CAS I get good spark on all the plugs!
Is this a problem or is it just a Tuner Studio soft ware problem related to the Split timing of a rotary?
I have not tried to start the car.

Kim

You might want to ask that question in the MS3 development forum:

Here's a snippet from the change log for the pre-1.3 alpha code

Resolve 1-cyl 2-stroke fuel output issue.
Rotary trailing spark works in test mode.
VVT allows exhaust to use a table of retard angles.

So I think it must have been broken previously. If so, the only way it would work for you would be to run the pre-1.3 alpha code (which certainly has some risk).

We Have Start Up

I checked every thing over I said can not see why it will not start. After making a few changes to the AFR I have a good idle and a very quick start. The spark advance matches the timing light 100% and rock solid. OOPS Just remembered did not check trailing. LC-1 is not working properly so I will recalibrate it and see if that helps if not I have a spare new one to throw in. And work out my After start fuel maps.

FYI the MS 3 PRO is working and very sensitive to in puts compared to my old MS1 unit. I have never seen my race car idle so smooth before.

Thanks

For your help
