saving tune going ms1 to ms2

So I wil be having my buddy help me in the next month or less. He used to work for AEM, and knows ecus and wiring better than I do. My goal is to just get the car running well enough to send it to a professional tuner. I'm sure you guys already know I'm a total ecu noob from my previous posts.

My friend is not experienced with megasquirt, so some of our time will be researching, but I was hoping if you guys could give us a big head start.
I will be goingms1 to ms2, but I wanted to keep the tune that is already on there. Is there anyway to do that?

You will need to set up ignition trigger settings again, as well as any specific MS2 options. However you can just load the MS1 MSQ into your MS2 and TunerStudio will do its best to transfer everything. The tables in MS2 have more resolution which I believe get interpolated.

You also can export the tables as VEX in MS1, then set up the MS2 manually, and import the tables back in.

Why not MS3?

I thought the ms3 requires pretty much everything new? I saw the old posts on making you ms1 v3.0 into a ms2 and it didn't cost much. I won't be doing anything to fancy with my car, and I heard the resolution on the MS2 and ms3 were the same, but the ms3 could spry more add ons

Running the MS3 in upgrade mode without MS3X is as simple as swapping in the MS3 card (and I think a new case).
