Running like crap when hot

I'm almost there, the car runs very well, starts first time and warms up nicely as long as it is cold.

When it gets hot it is a different story. I've moved the IAT sensor so that it doesn't sit above the engine anymore. Instead it is now positioned after my intercooler in a metal pipe. The IAT registers up to 49 degrees after a very light run. Is this what everyone else gets?

I've been playing around with the air density correction stuff and can't seem to get it to fix the problem. It will start to idle better if I dump fuel in eg 11:1 ratio but is rubbish compared to cold and warm up.

Has anyone had this problem before??

Here is: a datalog of my idle when hot with very obvious lean conditions and a snapshot of my air density settings.

Thanks
Jono

I dont really have a feel for the air density settings since I use them based off of coolant temp, but it looks like the slope that you have from 500 to 800 RPM is way too great right around idle. If 50 kPa, 800 rpm is your idle, find the value there that brings it to the AFR you want, and then in the 500 rpm column next to it, take that value and add up to 5 or so. Keep the 500 RPM bins above that as they are, since those will help to "catch" the engine if RPM's overshoot.

If the slope of the VE table is too great, especially right around idle, the engine will want to hunt around, oscillating between too fast (and too lean) and too slow (and too rich). I have about 20* of advance at idle too and it seems to work well for a nice, steady, strong idle. What porting do you have done?

Ok I'll adjust those ve bins. How much extra is good? 5-10 more?

I've got a large extend port, you guys would call it a street port but its got bridge port exhaust ports.

With the air density, my car decellerates nicely when cold and warming up, however when decellerating when hot, it goes dead lean to 20:1 no matter what I do.
Is this the air density causing this? I've got decel set to 100% (no decell) in the wizard and I'm not using over run fuel cut.
Here is my msq.

It looks like your warmup enrichments are pretty low from what I find works well, and the acceleration enrichments also seem very low (besides the cold start accel enrich). both of these could cause what you're seeing.

Also, the idle valve settings seem like they could be causing your fluctuation problems... both the fast and slow response times seem very high (well, low numbers = faster response since it can change more often), and the zones for operation are very tight around the target RPM.

My recommendation would be to just set the idle valve to operate at whatever frequency it usually settles around (or just start at 60 and work your way down til its at a speed you want) and use it for warmup only at first. Then make sure that your req_fuel is correct for your injectors, engine size etc, warm the engine up fully, and tune the VE table for idle and everything while its nice and warm. Dont touch this again until the car is fully warmed up; instead if its starting cold and having trouble, change the warmup enrichments etc.

Also, I'm not convinced that setting the coolant-related air density to IAT-based actually does anything. I was playing around with that a bit today, it seems that its still CLT-based even when IAT is selected. You may just be muddying up your warmup settings and splitting the total enrichment onto two pages by playing with it. Turn it off for now and try to get it close with just the warmup enrichments first.

Ok, I'll try altering those areas and see what happens. Just wondering what temp your IAT gets up to?

Thanks so much for your help.

when heat-soaked, I'll see up to 45-48 when idling or lightly cruising, and maybe a little more when boosting
