Smile Post your MSQ's

Hi All,

I've been trying to find some MSQ's for rotaries to download to start off a base map with the Mega... I've searched the internet widely with no success... ausrotary, msefi, rx7club etc..

I'd like to put together a webpage listing a number of peoples MSQ's and firmware versions and engine/ignition setup to make it easier for others to move to MS rather than having to start from scratch each time.

With Microtechs you can get a base map suitable for 13b n/a or turbo etc... why not with the Megasquirt

If you are running Megasquirt and think you have a decent tune, i'd like to hear from you

Could you post:
Engine: 12A/13B/NA/TURBO
MS Version: MS1 or MS2
Firmware Version: Standard firmware x.x/MSExtra x.x/etc.
Are you running ignition? Details...
And any other details you think are relevant.
Please attach msq file as well

Alternatively email me all these details to paul@pw.cx and I will setup a web page listing these to help jump start peoples experiences with Megasquirt

Once I have a few, we'll list the site on the FAQ and make life easier for people interested in MegaSquirting.

Personally I have a fresh 13B EP built that I have just started tuning today (MS2, standard firmware, fuel only) and will continue to tune on Tuesday. I'll try and note anything that confuses me but I figure out into a sort of newbie faq... ( One thing so far Stuie discovered is that if you plug your temp sensor wire into an injector, temp reads about 80 degrees C )

Cheers,

Paul.

Great idea! I'm waiting for my MS v3.0 and was looking for the same thing, would be nice to have some sort of archive of base maps for different setups!

Maybe Mythaixbr would be so kind to post his base maps here? I understand they're his intellectual property, but still?

strange ... I was able to find some, but that was long ago. iirc I posted an msq or 2 maybe a year ago ... the megamanual/faq/forums does cover everything settings-wise, although it takes some effort to find specific info from these sources. I am sure you can get a base msq from Ken or tofuball that they use for the zems units. If you are going to step up and make that kind of page, I will donate some for you as well ...

Here is the one David gave me to start my car with. Fuel/spark maps aren't well tuned, and startup enrichments need work. Its for an S4 NA

Thumbs up

I'm not trying to force anyone to upload them, but I think it would be quite useful to have some bases to run from There are a lot of different porting setups and intake setups to cover, so having a number of bases to start work from could help some people get their cars running alright at least and then they can have fun tuning

I agree that the megamanual and forums are an excellent resource, but it mostly caters for the piston engines. There's no official documentation on using the MS2 with standard firmware on rotary and configuring that.. The point of this is a base for people to work from that might save them a little time and worry.

Once I get some MSQ's I will set up the page... so start sending paul@pw.cx

Base Map!!

Yes if anyone has a base map for a 13B running staged injection it would be realy handy... as running 4 injectors into an IDA TB at idle makes it run like poo.. as iv had this before with an early Haltech on an IDA setup and once I got it running staged it ran sweet as...

Arr Paul such a learning experiance.... somtimes I wish it was a Haltch or MicroTeach so I could just load one if my maps set the tps and dyno tune it... as it would be done in an hour...

This will get you driving, or give you a starting point for your NA, or the offboost section of your turbo map for timing only

Thanks for the input so far guys, the more the better I'll have some of my own maps shortly.. just want to do some more tweaking... we're working on gathering info on using a stock CAS as well and writing a howto on that too...

Anyone who is running megasquirt, next time you have the laptop plugged into it and are running megatune, could you go file - save as - then save a file and upload that here? Megatune then grabs all the settings from your mega and puts them into that one file, making it quite easy to then load onto another car

Thanks guys! This is ace.

Paul.

I'm running an 89 NA engine that I frequently take to road courses. I'm betting that there is a bit more tweaking I could do as far as the code latency and the timing map, but the car drives well and performs very well on track.

Cold air intake (fender), and header to open exhaust (loud!)

I'm actually putting together a writeup with lots of pictures on taking a stock MS I ver 3.0 board and the mods needed to be made, the few wires that need to be moved to other places in the DB-37 connector, and all my software settings I have (screenshots) for both turbo and non-turbo 13B's. So, basically, if you buy a fully built MS-I and wire harness from DIYautotune, then I can take you through the process of what to do, up to the point where the car will start up and drive fairly well. He is running a stock port 6-port with a turbo, whereas I am running a 4-port N/A setup. I basically took everything I did to my car and did the same with his and it worked out great.
I did exactly just that to this guy's turbo vert up the street from me and it started right up on the 1st crank and was pretty driveable, but needed tuning on the fuel map. I also figured out a way to make a working somewhat fuel map for your injector setup based upon the size injectors I use (math equations for scaling factor, etc.
I'm only having 1 problem so far, and that's the fact that I'm running on 56k right now. Doesn't exactly help with uploading all my pics.

Nice to hear Brian - I've done a MS2 v3 guide but we do need a MS1 guide I have no experience with the MSI so it was looking pretty difficult for me to cover it as well.

When I first started this thread I didn't have the sort of idea i have now of the complexities of each setup and how it affects tuning.. I am still working on my tune... (waiting for exhaust shop to get in appropriate flange to finish exhaust before i can tune)... so once i have my tune happy, ill put together an index of configurations for everyone in a website

Also I have been having a lengthy discussion with 'BumpStart' on Ausrotary in regard to ignition timing. I would highly recommend reading through it to get an idea about how to tune your ignition - he covers the reasons behind a lot of the things that happen, and you can see my process of tuning and graphs as we improved them...
