I mistakenly posted this in the Microtech forum.

Owner of the shop's wife says a customer is bringing in an RX7 with a rod knocking. I think to myself that the nice lady misunderstood something. Nope, confirmed with shop owner that a 2nd gen with a VG30 swap and microsquirt was coming in on a wrecker. Even after all of the protest and proclamation of sacrilegious doings and "BAD JUJU", shop owner said it was me that would be wrenching on it. I felt like a devout Catholic who was ordered to worship at a protestant church.

The car is a beater with a VG30 with homemade turbo setup and wires hanging all over. NA bottom end that came out of an engine with busted block and crank. Terrible wear on crank and a spun bearing on journal 1 after 20 miles. Looks like it was caused by the hand tight oil cooler lines or paint flaking off from the inside of the oil pan.

He is coming by to look at it in the morning. Maybe I can talk him into a 3 rotor swap.

Hmm...ignoring the hack job mechanical part of the swap, the MicroSquirt really isn't suited to run a car with it's limited outputs. More useful on two cylinder engines without a lot of extra I/O needed.

He probably spun the bearings because the ECU is untuned and dumping fuel into the oil.
