Newbie to Megasquirt

I am considering putting a Megasquirt in our Solo F Prepared car as a standalone fuel and ignition system. The car is an '87 sport NA with RB Road Race 6 port header, presilencer, then straight out exhaust, and high flow air intake with cold air box. All pollution controls rats nest etc. have been removed. Currently the internals of the engine are stock but we are considering a possible street port when we get to the point of needing a rebuild.

With all that said, I would like to buy a kit so I am more familiar with the unit since I have a fair amount of electronics background. So I am asking, what all do I need to buy as far as kits and piece parts to get this done?

have you checked the FAQ yet?

Could you read over that and then ask any questions you have?

I'm certain that several of your questions will be answered by the FAQ.

Ok, I'll go through the list again and get a specific set of questions defined. I should have thought of that in the first place.

OK, did my reading and I come up with the following list. Please correct me if I missed anything.

MegaSquirt V3 board kit
LM1815 add on board kit or preassembled which ever is available
I also saw on one of the sites that sells kits a wiring harness.

Then the needed software. I have the tuning software already downloaded in or to take a look at options, etc.

Do I also need the Stim board kit?
Anything else that I missed?

Yeah, that looks good.

You'll want the stim if you're planning on building it yourself. I'd buy it even if you're not planning on building the MS yourself, as it's very helpful for debugging on the bench.

Thanks, Will be placing the order later today and I want to make sure I have everything I need to make this a successful project. I have a lot of Porche 914's and 944's to beat next year in autox, oh and some Datsun 240 & 260 z's.

you may want some misc wire and will need some assorted resistors for things like pullups for spark.

I was able to figure out the misc resistors ans such, those are detailed quite nicely in several areas. I just for some stupid reason kept getting all confused as to which of the major pieces I would need.

I get a bit of tunnel vision at times, after all I'm an old fart with grand kids, and all this new fangled computer stuff for cars gets to me. But I am trying to learn.
