Need help with initial configuration

I am trying to get the initial settings into my MS2 V3.0 with firmware 2.8900. This is for an S4 NA with no internal mods, only cold air intake, and racing beat header, with LC1 O2 sensor. I am trying to use Megatune 2.25 P3 and the data from the screen shots in the MS2 FAQ but I can't find any of the screens for the ignition where I set what comes and goes from the LED's and spare connector pins like is shown in the screen shots. What am I missing. I setup Megatune per the configurator instructions in the Megamanual. There just are no setup screens for ignition that match anything close to what is in the FAQ. Needless to say if I can't tell the CPU about those extra leads or setup for the correct CAS input I am not going to get anything to begin to work.

Are there some specific instructions for my setup someplace that I have missed? I thought I had searched everywhere.

The base B&G firmware doesn't support rotary specific ignition. You need the MS-Extra code branch, 2.1.0. Check on msextra.com, what you seek is there.

That would explain why I couldn't find the needed settings. Does that mean I need to flash the new code to the CPU? I will assume so.

Thanks.

Yes, that's correct. Please make sure you use the Extra flash utility, it's different from the B&G version and is run via a batch file. While you can go back and forth between the B&G and Extra code, you need to use the appropriate flash util.

Got it flashed

Well took two tries to get a success but it looks like the MSExtra code flash worked. But I still do not find all of the screens as depicted in the FAQ. Only found a screen with Spark A for ignition. I am going to try to download everything again and reflash just in case I somehow got the wrong files even though my Megatune shows the right code level.

Downloaded everything once again, did the new flash. Ok, still none of the screens are anywhere near what is in the FAQ examples from this forum. So Where do I get the settings to use these different screens? Do I just dig through the MSExtra docs and try to come up
with my own starting points?

You need to update the ini file with the one from ms2extra.

I thought I had done the update of the ini file but will gladly do that again just to make sure. That is the step where I do the copyini.bat command or something like that from the directory where I unzipped everything, am I correct?

Okay, here is what I have done so far today. I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of megatune from the MSextra web page using a fresh download. Once the install finished I ran the copyini.bat script. Then I started Megatune and went into configurator. Set up a new progrect call MSextra and set up CODE_VARIANT to MS_II like the MSExtra site said to do. I set the rest of the variables as appropriate and save each file as I set them. Finished configurator and opened Megatune. I set the com port as needed, turned on Megasquirt and started looking at the setup files.

None of the screens looked anything like the screen shots in the FAQ. I happened to notice that there was an MSNS_EXTRA code_variant setting. Just out of curiosity I set that and retried MS and bingo the screen in the FAQ were there but then I couldn't talk to my MSII. I will try to get some screen shots of what I am seeing when I set the code_variant to MSII a bit later.

Does this make sense now?

I found this link with a great write up for wiring the stock CAS and modifying the MS2 V3 for the RX7 and nearly giving up. http://stuff.pw.cx/Megasquirt%20MS2%...azda%20CAS.pdf It even has the screen shots that I kept seeing when I tried to set the basic configuration up. It also includes some great photos of how to build up the second VR circuit and had some missing leads that did not seem to be shown or talked about anywhere else I had found. A great one step document.
