Msnse Run Dis Msd Coils On 60 Tooth

Ok this is for the megasquirt masterz..... I have an rx7 12a motor, 14psi blower running msnse 29t ms1 v3. I am now controlling my leading ignition from an electromotive 60-2 tooth wheel going through the ms to control the timing, then to a msd 6al ignition box firing a coil to the stock dizzy distributor firing leading plugs.....
What I am looking to do for ignition is use the eccentric shaft mounted 60-2 tooth wheel through the msnse to drive msd dis coils for direct fire ignition. msd offers either a wasted spark dual output coil which could be used for leading, and single output coils which could be used for trailing. I wish to use the rotory trailing map that is in the msnse. I believe I would have to set up the rotary ignition as fd mode. My question is about the wheel decoder settings of trigger a, b, c. I don't want to use the cas wheel as timing signal, for I have seen variences of 2' in timing which is scary to me. Looking for advice and suggestions. Gavin

your settings are going to depend on the location of the missing tooth on the 60-2 wheel when you're at TDC.

Here is a pic of my wheel settings page. I just don't comprehend using the teeth settings for tailing when you are using a trailing timing map that is based off of leading coils. As you see from my current settings, what would you set trailing to?

The tooth settings are for leading only. The trailing timing is an offset from the leading. As Ken said, your tooth numbers will depend on the relative positions of gap and VR sensor as compared to the trigger angle. The MSnSExtra documentation covers this well. To get trailing timing signals out, you'll need to enable trailing ignition, and configure SparkB and SparkC outputs.

Renns Thank you I believe you gave me the info I needed. I mounted the 60-2 wheel to the settings in the msnse manual and have been running leading for a couple months and it runs awesome.

Hi Mr Maintainence Shop.

One little note for you, I noticed you took a picture of your computer screen with a camera and cropped the image to show us your settings. There is a much better way of doing things.

In windows, hitting "alt" and the "prnt scrn" buttons simultaniously captures the image of the current active window. Which would be the window we are worried about. Hitting just the print screen button captures the entire windows desktop, which would then require you to crop it.

Hope that helps...will result in a much more readable image next time you need help.
