whats the difference between these two ?

I have a MS1 v3.0 will I be able to run things like the boost controller or the touchscreen display at DIY

on that website it says you can update the ms2 to the ms2/extra code is it possible to do that with the ms1?

 

because it says it is possible for boost control on that chart for the ms1 extra

You can do open loop boost on ms1/extra, but you can't do closed loop, the algorithm doesn't really work.

I think the confusion is this: MSExtra is just software. It gets loaded onto the stock Megasquirt processor. There is MSExtra for MS1 and MS2 (no idea on how the MSIII is being done). Then, there are optional hardware mods which can be applied to support some of the features MSExtra provides in software.

 

MSIII only has 1 firmware option, it's based on ms2/extra originally, but very much extended.
