megasquirt on a jdm questions.

hi guys

first off this is what i have for my setup.

88 jdm turbo 2 create motor
86 nonturbo car
86 nonturbo wiring " the wiring was redone to fit the turbo connections correctly"

i wanted to do the megasquirt for mine with a piggyback system which i seen done on a freinds fc and it turned out well.

what is the megasquirts requirment as far as a tuning pc >? i want to buy a labtop for just this use!!!
and i know i need a wideband o2
any other sensors i need to replace?

as of now the car is running with a n327 non turbo ecu and i can reach 8 psi with no problems to the turbo and the motor however i know its not a good idea to run it like this. i dont drive this car. but atleast its running in some sort of way.

You don't need the stock ECU or anything related to it besides the sensors already on the engine. Doesn't matter if it is "JDM" or not as the engine is nearly the same (only a few minor emissions differences).

Any old laptop will do but really you need a P100 or faster. Make sure it has a serial port.

I got my laptop 2 years ago off of ebay for around $170:

Dell Latitude LT
Pentium 266 w/MMX
4GB HD
32MB ram

Only issue with this one is that the moron that had it before me thought he'd be a genious and install windows XP on it which takes up most of the hard drive space and nearly every bit of the ram available. takes forever for things to load, but once it's ready, it's smooth sailing.

32MB of RAM? It's a miracle that XP even runs. I though the minimum it would even install on would be 64...

Do yourself a favour and wipe it, then load Win98SE.
