since the introduction of the new MS II/ PCB 3 system it's now in league with the mid range ECU's most commonly used

I think we need to add a Megasquirt sub topic , this is particularly important for this ECU as it's an open source and sharing code and maps is key to the MS system. How do we get it added ?

I would say the MS I is also in league with those ECUs. Right now if you want full leading/trailing spark on the stock ignition, you'll have to go with MS I. Not sure when exactly it will be available on MS II, but I'm pretty sure you can go with MS I now and upgrade later to MS II for less than $100 (if you really need to).

I totally agree! With the release of stock FC/FD ignition capability, this ECU will take off. The software features are extensive and if you want more, it can be programmed in--try that with a commercial ECU--NOT!

I'm just starting my project and plan to have full fuel and spark along with (no flames please) emission system capability--I have to comply with emissions so no choice here--Hell they have photo recorders and test stations on the ramps to/from the highway. Not sure what they do if you fail.

I'm planning for about $500 for the full setup including a LC-1 wideband--the MS is awesome. The price rivals many SAFC units with substantially less features. Of course for this price you'll have to assemble the unit yourself. Assembled units can be had for $300-$400.

I agree with renns that the source code needs to stay on the msefi forum to prevent forking the design.

Hopefully we can post more in a sub-forum soon.

Scott

I'm going to be starting to port several of the msns-extra features to ms2 as soon as the next batch of ms2's go on sale

FYI, you can use the ms1 chip on a v3 board, and the v3 board even comes with a built-in vr sensor conditioner... so to use it on a stock rx7, all that would need done is to install an lm1815 circuit in the proto area, and you'd be ready to go.

I also agree that we should have a megasquirt sub-forum.

Last, the rotary code hasn't been tested in-car yet. I'll be testing it sometime soon, possibly this weekend depending on if the car will be at my house. It works great on the oscilloscope though. This is the same car that's running leading only on the wheel-decoder.

If all my LM1815 stuff comes in tomorrow, like it should, I'll be testing it next week.
