Question I need help

The Car: 1987 TII, stock internally, 75000 miles, fuel fire recovery, ATF treatment done over the winter, very good compression, 550cc primary, 1600cc secondary, intake is a K&N directally on the turbo, OS gilken twin plate (with matching lightweight flywheel) aluminum radiator w/elec fan and shroud, stock top mount IC, all GM sensors machined into the stock sensor points, secondary progressive butterflies removed from the throttle body, new NGK plugs and wires. Timing has been checked to be on the yellow dot when fixed angle is set to -5, although it jumps around a degree or two. Zeitronix WB O2.

The Problems: It starts really hard, although I know the cranking PW, the ASE, and the warmup settings are off, so no big deal. I can not get it to idle smooth at all (but it will idle), and when I have it idleing at 900-1100 rpm, the MAP is the 80's. The real problem is that I have no power at all under Vacuum, and just a little under boost. I feel that I can tune the idle and the startup, but the whole power thing concernes me. Any ideas?? I have atatced a small datalog and my .msq, I have the whole datalog it came from, but it is too big to attatch. Give me a e-mail addy and I can e-mail it to anyone.

MAP in the 80s while idling is totally wrong. Either you've got a huge vacuum leak or your MAP sensor or settings are screwed up. What's your MAP reading when the engine is not running?

If your cranking pw, ase and warmup enrichments are off it will be hard to start, it is a big deal, actually.
Were you running the stock ECU at all before or did you just swap in this motor and build it up?
It sounds like a vac. leak to me also..

Your MAP should definately not be in the 80 Kpa range at idle. Where are you picking up vacume for the MAP sensor? I tried connecting my MAP sensor to one of the nipples on the plenum near the throttle plates and I had the exactly the same symptoms... It barely ran and the MAP was in the 80 Kpa range at idle.

If you don't already have the vacume line connected to the stock location try connecting it there.

i looked at your msq. on your constants i noticed you had injections per cycle at 4. try changing it to 2. also you have number of injectors as 4. try changing it to 2. my idle is at about 50-60kpa with ve values about 45-50.

My fast idle during warmup (~1800 RPM) MAP is in the low 30's. Warmed up (900 RPM) is around 40.

Thanks for the tips guys, and for some answers: I did try the 2squirts/2injector setting, and it made the car idle worse, the MS vacume line is going into the upper intake, by the throttle body. I origionally had it on one of the nipples that did not read corectally, but I caught it and moved it. I never had the motor running B4 the build, the electronics/plastic in the engine bay was a total loss. Some picts of the build, not updated in a while:

I am going to tear it down to the block again and look for leaks. Going to get some better mana. gasgets, just to be 100% sure. Thanks for the input!!

2 injector 2 squirt is the way it should be set up... if it's not working well when you do that, you just need to retune a bit.
