Question Fuel-Only GM TBI carb replacement--

Hi there. I'm starting to gather the parts to use a GM TBI setup on a Holley squarebore intake for my SA (Fuel Only...)

The basic parts/component list that I have planned out so far is a MS2 v3.57, (From what I've read a MS1 would work just fine, BUT... I'm eventually planning to get my hands on a 13B-REW or Renesis.) a relay board, and a wideband O2 kit. (And the 305 TBI, competent fuel pump, manifold, etc.)

My question is: are the "initial tunes" that currently exist out-and-about on the internet for this application ([305ci V8]Carb -> GM TBI) safe enough to do the initial dial-in on my 12a? The vehicle is not my daily driver, I don't mind having to set aside a "few" hours of garage time to get things moving right.

(I have seen questions in this vein prior, but with nobody actually doing it!)

I was thinking of doing a similar set-up and i have the same question. Also, are you stock port? I have a street port 12a.

Yeah, it's a stock port. Leaky, old... equivilant and strong compression. As an after-thought, there are quite a few forced induction setups designed to work with the GM 305 TBI.

Also: No access to a dyno.

If the fueling map is for the 305 V-8 I suspect it will be way to rich.

The problem that you are going to run in to is getting the car to hold an idle at first. ICE engines will run on a wide range of Air/Fuel Ratios. 9:1-->17:1 (ratios off the top of my head correct me if I'm wrong) with 14.7:1 being ideal for a CAT.

If you don't have a dyno that's OK (not Ideal) but you DO need a wide-band 02 sensor.

Jeff hartman covers all of this in the tuning chapter of his book. (best $20 I've spent so far)
