FD-Megasquirt

I just want to know, what are all of the problems anyone has run into while megasquirting an Fd?
I really want to ms mine, the deal i was going to get now aint gonna happen. SO i might go at it myself, even though i know hardly anything in the whole ems dept.
Has anyone actually gotten their FD to run 100% correctly,
what are the differences between megasquirting a turbo fc of the fd?

Right now, 13BeastREW is the only one close to having an FD running....

The only issue he and I ran into was getting the vr sensor conditioner signal from his G+ wire cleaned up.

You can keep an eye on his thread to see how it's going.

EDIT: here is the thread:

So alright, say if i were to megasquirt, what would i have to do and how come it is taking so long for it to be working at 100%

its just im contemplating trying it myself before going to dieselgeek, but most likely i will end up going to him.
He has built 70+ ms, and says there will be no problem with him making and putting in mine.
he is doing a t2 right now so i wont be the gunea pig.

The T2 ignition system is different from the FD, make sure he knows about that....

It most likely will work 100%, 13BeastREW has just be having mechanical problems to fix before he can get to the rewiring he needs to do....

See the thread I posted above as he has been updating it on a regular basis.

Most of what's in the FAQ is correct for the FD as well, so just read that...

You still need all of the same circuits to run the FD as well... (the vr sensor conditioners etc...) The main thing that ends up different is you have to put an inline .01 uF capacitor on the G+ wire into the lm1815 vr sensor conditioner, or come up with some other way to get rid of noise. The only real difference in software configuration is you set up trailing for FD instead of FC in megatune.

Would it be difficult to run a MS as fuel/spark only with the stock Fd ecu? I guess this is called a piggy back set-up right? RG did this with an Rx8 last year. I wanna experiment with my stock seq FD set-up and don't want to spend a lot of money on an expensive ecu upgrade.

You can piggyback the ecu to run fuel and use MS to read the temp and tps sensors. However, on my S4 ECU, I could not get the CAS signals to piggyback. Every time I tried that, the stock ECU would quit firing spark. Maybe the FD CAS is different enough this won't happen.

For the temp sensors, you'll have to make changes to how you build the MS, and calculate values for bias resistors. There's a whole section in the megamanual about sharing sensors.

The Fd uses a trigger wheel so maybe it will work. Don't know!

They both use trigger wheels of sorts... The FC's trigger wheel is just inside the CAS instead of on the e-shaft. They both use VR sensors as well... so it might work, it might not... It really depends more on the stock ECU as the MS should be able to work fine.
