FB with MSII
Hey guys, Thought id share a little bit about my project. I have a 83 7 12A. I知 ditching the Nikki and going with a 4 barrel TB with injector ports. More specifically this http://www.auto-nomics.com/cgi-bin/s...part=12168-001. I知 going to use Second gen CAS with leading and trailing coil packs. So far the only parts I have are the CAS coils, MSII (still building) and RB Holley intake for TB. I知 in the process of finding a GSL-SE fuel tank to mount a in-tank fuel pump. I found this website on using an OEM wideband http://wiki.quattroworld.com/index.p...Band_O2_Sensor. So I知 going to use this as my wideband. I still need to order the Zeal daughterboard and I知 trying to see if anyone local has a Jimstim. I didn稚 get one when I ordered my MSII. I think I got most of it figured out. Next I知 going to get the CLT and IAT sensors. I may try to get my FB ignition running on the MSII, With CLT, IAT and wideband in place to do some data logging. Considering the TB is expensive so I知 going to wait a min to pick that up.
Stock port for now. Just header and exhaust. Using the MSII with a S4 would be a simple swap just about. Ill link a website tommorow. I have the address at work. They guy walks you through the entire process on a 2nd gen but with a TII. I am keeping the 12A
For best power delivery you want some length in your intake. Think turbo FC3S/FD3S as a mininum length. For ease of tune and fuel economy you want your petrol getting sprayed as close as possible to the engine. I've been daily driving a twin barrel EFI 12A for over 2 years now. Do not port that motor! JUST exhaust ports taken to TII spec retaining the port inserts. And not those square **** heaps everyone on the internet pushes. Intake runners smoothed and matched to whatever intake you end up with. With forced induction you can make some big numbers on low boost.
Anything more than 0.9bar boost means you will need basically a circuit style R-compound semi slick to go anywhere.

K. I have a set of ported irons and housings. The irons are supposed to be a massive street port. IDK about the housings. Ill see if i can find anything on TII timming. If i can find a scan of the template that would be awesome as i can see if there the same. The exhaust ports are pretty huge over stock. Good idea on the intake. Ill see if i can smooth it out. As it is a RB the runner curves are smooth just casting bumps need to be smoothed out. Ill look into doin that.
With a true massive street port you will make very good power from 5000-8000rpm.

This was the day i got them. They had been sittin around for a lill while as you can tell. I have cleaned them up since. Ill get some new pics as soon as i pick them up from the local rotary guy
Not a fan of the rotor housings. I can't comment on the intake port. Never driven or been in a car with that shape/type.
Do you have a complete set of non-ported intake plates? My 12A turbo has VERY small changes from factory parts.
I can tell you 100% sorted, you can make non-turbo 170BHP from an excellent nearly stock 12A block. I'm talking runner work more than porting changes, excellent intake, and exhaust port timing taken to TII timing with nice smooth round shape.
I'm upto 400BHP from it now, I never pushed nor measured power NA after my initial dyno run. It dynoed 140BHP with a crap aftermarket exhaust and a crap stock carby. I drove it around EFI later and there was certainly an some portion of the extra 30HP there.
I then drove around slowly increasing power. I have done probably 20 1/4 mile passes. It started as low as the 90 MPH mark with the FC turbo on it. I've done 112MPH with a few weight reductions. Next time I go out I'm expecting mid 120s. Again, not all that much done to my block.
Highest on the stock FC turbo was around 112MPH with some weight reductions. 109MPH full weight. My mate with a very similar car did 108MPH full weight with less boost. Hes not as fat as me though :P

Small update. Finish with the MSII. Need to order zeal kit. Just ordered The LC-1 got it for 169 shipped. I may run my spark with the MS. IDK yet, That would be bout the time i got the LC-1 In. IDK yet let me know what ya think.Jibaro 12A sorry a lill late. Heres that link i mentioned

You only need the zeal kit if you want to run ignition. Also if you want to run ignition (I am assuming with a 2nd gen cas and coilpacks) you can bring the MS over and I can help you mod it for that purpose.

Im plannin on Fuel injection. Slowly getting all the parts. This friday im off work early most likely. I work down in curtis bay. USCG FTW. So ill pretty much be driving right by you when i go home
Ken id like to toss you a bone. Just thought of this. Is there a to rune seq fuel injection by having power cut to secondary injectors until they are needed. This is how i see it. Have INJA and INJB tied to one rotors primary and secondary injector. But that secondary injector has no power until the MS triggers it. And that would lets say be by the TPS. I can try to clarify it if need be. Thats something that just came to me.
Alright just ordered the last bits to get this off the ground. Walbro 255 Inline pump. EV6 pigtails, Auto-Nomics 4 barrel Throttle body and i got a Mustang buddy whos gonna give me his stock 24LB injectors.
