Cold start/firmware upgrade
Going to upgrade my firmware tomorrrow... haven't seearched online yet but hoping there's a walkthrough. (have never messed with it before).
Do I have to change any of the maps or will the car still run the same after the upgrade?
Also - here's my current .msq... have a look at my startup table and see if anything is wrong, the car flat out will not start unless coolant and air are BOTH above 70F, this .msq is from last year but I don't think i've changed anything since then.
thanks alot!

took a peek at your msq .... seems like 029q or above ... Im pretty sure you will be able to load your msq to 029w with no issues. Your cranking pw seem to go down below 16c (around 65 F?I think, its late >.< ) Id try to keep that scale linear ... but Im not sure how low cold weather for you is ). Also, I see you are firing secondaries at crank, I always had issues trying to do that and kept it to primaries only (always been using very large secondaries so far) ... HTH

so yeah, I posted the same time as you and didn't see your post.
I have 0.29q right now
Going to reflash in about an hour.
I didn't realize I have secondaries firing while cranking, my secondaries are HUGE so I'm sure that's not helping matters (720cc pri/1680cc sec)

I just looked at the MAP and I'm not sure that my secondaries are coming online at ALL.
and if they are, they're only coming online when the MAP is above 120kpa (which is never below about 2500 RPM - but 120kpa is probably a little low for that setting anyways.)

latest msq, not one that's 6 months old LOL.
Got it to start this morning, bumping the timing from -10 advance to +10 advance seemed to really help. I also upped the cranking RPM from 300 to 700, as it seemed to be cranking at that speed (it was firing butnot enough to run- just enough to get it above the crank RPM range). My idle is around 1400-1600 anyways so this shouldn't affect anything.
Going to upgrade my firmware right now, but if anyone sees anything on this map please let me know.

Upgraded my firmware. had to re-install my map onto the unit after but my 0.29q map seems to be working fine . Going to try and fire up the car right now.
I had it attached to a stim powered by a 9v when I started, that was a bad idea. it died and I got to flash it a second time after putting a better battery on.

Hey Daniel,
Did you recompile the new code with updated thermistor tables first? If not, you need to do that or your coolant and air temps won't read correctly. Copy the thermfactor.inc and airdenfactor.inc files from your car1/mtCfg folder over top of the ones in the folder with the new embedded code. Then recompile, and download. If you can't find the .inc files, you can use EasyTherm as well, just choose 'RX7 defaults' from the file menu. It's those details you miss out on when you don't build the unit yourself ;-)
Glad you caught that 9V battery issue. Many folks have had issues flashing with a weak power source.
BTW, you wouldn't have run across GSL-SE front suspension, TII lightweight flywheel, or any other such goodies would you? Gotta use up my credit before it expires!

Car started fine but it's been sitting in a 70F garage and it never had issues at that temp. Tomorrow morning will be the real test.
I didn't run easytherm or anything :P
I don't have a GSL-SE front suspension (I'm looking for one myself! lol) - or a TII flywheel either. Don't worry about your credit, it won't expire.
