Built my Megastim and.....

didnt realize that I installed the O2 rheostat backwards. I put the 3 pins in the place of the S1 swith. Lol, so tomorrow its back off to Radio Shack to get a "de"soldering iron and reverse it so I can install the S1 switch.

Next in line is to order the MS v3 and put that together.

I prefer a desoldering bulb...less heat in the board, but to each his own.

I never could get desoldering braid to work, but then again I'm definitely a novice when it comes to electronic kits.Food for thought ,you could damage a board(considering the work/money into it) for a component that's a couple of dollars at the most. Some componets you may be able to lift with a good tweezer or dentist's pick, but if the component has closely spaced legs (unless you know what you are doing) it was recommended to me to just snip the component legs before you desolder the legs and buy a new component.I find the bulb/vaccum desolders work better. Also heard the radio shack desolder iron works well.I have one but haven't tried it yet.

when ever i have needd to desolder anything i just take compressed air and a really clean iron and get the solder melted and blast it with a shot of air and it seems to work every time.
i have had to do this twice on my good damn kenwood excelon roll face with the ribbon that wears out every couple years complete pain in my ***. sorry a little off topic
