boosting issues??

hey ken i dont know if you have a boosted rx7 but wanted to know something .

i got the megasquirt running the car now thanks to all you guys. got a decent map for it to run with a 20-175 kpa fuel map.

the problem is that i am reaching boost really late on the rpms the car kicks into boost at 4200 rpms. which is really late. the turbo i have is a stock mit turbo and it normally kicks on at 2500 rpms last time the car ran and @ 10 psi

so will just tunning the fuel map will fix my late boosting issue? i checked for vac leaks but everything is new hoses and the MS vac sensor is responeding normally. any ideas on this Ken?

thanks

S4 or S5?

If it's an S4 I'd imagine you're no longer running the twin scroll acutator?

the twin scroll actuator wouldnt delay boost that much. First, check for mechanical issues like the vac lines (see if any are missing or there are unaccounted for nipples/leaking block-off plates, leaking BOV etc), restricted exhaust/plugged cat, and if there are none, then I'd try retarding timing a little bit at 2.5k-4k, from 90-105 kpa or so. This will hurt power a little bit, but the added exhaust heat will spool the turbo more quickly.

sorry on the late reply guys . topless i have done most of the things that you mentioned above. retarding the timing did helped it a lot .however when doing so the car starts to want to die cause of the timing. so i have to keep the car running at 2000 rpms anything lower then that it wants to die. then when i advance the timing back to normal it will idle normally again.....

ON ANOTHER NOTE: for stabbing the CAS for a single VR does anyone remember how to get it to run for the 1,3,7,9 when i stab the cas for that it cant turn the cas more clockwise .

i need to double check on this cause my timing is still off....unless anyone remembers how to set the timing.

Pull the lid off the CAS, turn the engine to the 5 ATDC mark, turn the CAS to the 3rd tooth after the missing tooth, and stab it, making sure it doesn't move.

Then start the engine, set the fixed angle to -5 degrees, and slightly adjust the CAS until the timing mark lines up.
