blasted tach signal!

so we got my ms put together and ran it in anthonys car for a few days and it ran flawlessly. my car ran pretty decently on the stock computer. we put in a modified engine harness and cas and installed the ms. after remembering to wire in the fuel relay it started but the tach was going insane and the motor was spitting and backfiring. we played with it and re soldered the cas joints on the ms side of the harness and re wrapped everything thinking maybe it was cause of the shielding. its not as bad but its still bad
it seems to not spike but to just randomly drop off. please help or give me ideas. i think we are going to rerun the cas wires straight to the compy and bypass the stock ones and reload the firmware but man so frustrating.

grounds... insufficient grounds and/or ground loops are almost always the cause of this when the shielding is done properly.

i got the cas issue fixed. we got some shielded wiring and re ran the cas wires with it. worked like a charm but now im having tuning problems. under any light load i get pinging.

Have you verified timing with a timing light?

yep! after changing the cas wiring, it was off quite a bit, retarded weirdly enough. I am remaking a map for ignition because my maps I had are turning out to be WAY to agressive for a high compression turbo. so I am looking at n/a maps and modifying a bit for boost. also increasing the split for safety. Its dificult and its possible the crank angle sensor might be bad, but it runs fine except under load/boost.
