Question Anyone running MS2 3.0 board on 2.xxx firmware??

Is anyone running MS2 firmware anywhere from 2.0 - 2.8?? I'm currently have 2.6 loaded and I spent some time today going through the settings trying to convert the settings from my MS-I in my car over to my brother's MS-II setup. IF so, does anyone have settings, or should I open the MS up again and revert to the 1.0 firmware?? I'm willing to do whatever it takes at this point to get his car running.

Sorry, what I should really be asking is what version of ms2extra I should run. There is ms2extra_2.0.0, ms2extra_2.0.1, and the ms2extra beta files. Oh yeah, and scratch that comment about reverting to the 1.0 firmware.

1.0.2 works, 2.0.1 works as well, although the 2nd trigger input has to be done differently, and some people here had problems with that.

So, if I want to use 1.0.2, I need to connect OUT2 (VR2OUT) to JP4 on the MS-II circuit instead of connecting it to JS10 like I do now?
I also built my circuit according to the 1st diagram below for use of the 2.0+ firmware, but my question is if I should revert back to the 2nd diagram below this one:

1st diagram:

2nd diagram (revert back to? and with or without the res. and cap. I have circled?)

I guess I just want to make sure, that's all

Since MS2E-1.0.2 "polling method' seemed to work well for most everyone ,can the the MS2E-2.0.x code be moddified to include that option as well ?

If not it would be nice to sticky the correct 2nd. trigger MS2E-2.0.1 setup/circuit so people could stop chasing their tails.

As Jobro points out the MS2E manual ,now has a modded version of the "generic LM1815" VR circuit.

Looking at this thread "Gross Polluter"

But I can't do that, I'm a tinkerer, I have to make it work for myself and for the community that may have the same problems I have.

Doing a bit of thinking, and analyzing the information I had gathered, I found that I took a step in the wrong direction. On the subject of the LM1815, the output in the original configuration SHOULD be fine for an interrupt input. Also, with big help from the tooth counter Ken supplied me with, I found an interesting issue. When cranking, the tooth count would always be below 12. This indicated to me that the second trigger (the LM1815) was working fine, and it was the main trigger (on the 3.0 board) that was not working as it should.

Lesson learned: The issue this entire time a simple turn of R52 clockwise.
Anybody else confused?

What's confusing, exactly? I'd be happy to clarify.

Basically the correct schematics/set-up for MS2E-2.0. for both triggers on the RX-7. There are moded schems being posted left, right and center. So do we disable "one-shot" on the 2nd trigger? What does that "added transistor" do on the LM1815 schem. in my post above do? Are both triggers set to rising edge? That's a couple burning questions that seem to come to mind.

^^I agree. At the very least, I'd like to know what the most recent correct schematic is for the MS2extra 1.0.2
I'm more concerned about getting this car running in time for a meet in 2 weeks as well as being able to actually drive it because it's the summertime and I was hoping to be done last month, so I'm kind of "running behind". I can always wait for MS2extra 2.0+ at a later time.

The circuit that is in the FAQ will still work for MS2/extra 1.0.2. That circuit has the 1-shot output working.

For ms2/extra 2.0, putting the circuit into zero-crossing mode works best. In both cases, rising edge should be used.

You should never use the circuit in the manual, as that was meant more for a 36-1 wheel and not for the lower tooth counts that we use.

The good news is that the car runs and I got it started on the 1st try!! The downside is that I did this using my MS with the ms-1 processor using the stock CAS. I'm pondering on getting an MS-1 chip for his MS and swapping it out for the MS-2 chip in there until I become more familiar with the MS2extra software and settings. I'm relatively lost with some of the settings in it as well as the fact that I know the MS1 software pretty well. Hopefully there will be more MS2 help in here (in regards to rotary applications) sometime soon
