Any Repus with MS?

I've done several various searches and turned up very few results, none worth noting. Has anyone out there done a megasquirt rotary pickup? I have a fresh 13b in my truck with the hitachi carb. I've been considering this for the--maybe even near-- future. First course of action is getting the truck running great, as everyone suggests, to prevent problems.

This is not limited to Repus, I'd be interested to hear in any other 70's era rotaries that have been converted to MS. I've watched Aaron Cake's videos on his Cosmo, and he's mainly what sparked my interest.

Does he have any documentation on it? I did some searching and can't find anything on it. I was pleased to find the re-speed store, with Repu parts for sale. That was pleasing to find. Can't believe I'd never heard of these guys.

Before I made that post I had found a thread on mazdarepu forums and I didn't think it was the one because it was started in like 2005. But after I posted again I kept reading and sure enough, it's the one. Not sure how I neglected his signature with a link to the re-speed catalog lol. Anyways, thanks SirCygnus for directing me to Billy's thread.

The engine bay of a REPU, RX-4 and Cosmo are incredibly similar so you can probably copy my wire paths and coil mounting locations.

Fundamentally it's no different than any other carbureted car being converted to EFI. You'll need to install a EFI style fuel pump in place of the carb low pressure pump and an EFI bypass FPR. You may have to baffle the tank depending on how spirited you plan on driving it. REPU should already have a feed and return fuel line up to the engine bay. Then modify the intake manifold for injector bungs (I'd suggest 4, staged like the 2nd gen) and replace carb with a throttle body. The rest is wiring like any MS installation.

Certainly take a look at my website as well for a detailed MS writeup:

Thanks, Aaron. I was sure you'd chime in on this lol. Is there a reason for not just getting an efi intake manifold? Or is it a matter of budget?

Also, what's that black box behind the passenger seat?

I just suggested the existing intake manifold as I figured that's an option. Since it'sa 4 port 13B, you could use a TII upper and lower. You'll still need to figure out what to do about primary injectors assuming it's the original REPU middle iron. No injector bungs. I was all set because I built my Cosmo engine with GSL-SE plates to turn it into a 6 port.

Yes, the thread on mazdarepu started way back, still working on the REPU build Between other peoples projects and the complete floor and rocker sheet metal reconstruction it has been a long road.

Here is a link to all the pictures from the build so far.

My build may be different to yours as I will be using all second gen engine parts rather than trying to use a stock REPU block. All of my factory wiring has been replaced with a new harness specifically designed to fit my truck, with the chassis wires and MS engine wires built together.

I did not want to mod the stock REPU fuel tank so I decided to use a surge tank instead. The carb style fuel pump will be used to pump into a 1/4 gallon tank in the engine compartment. The high pressure pump will pull fuel from the bottom of this tank to supply the fuel rails.

Regarding the black box on the back of the cab you can find complete wiring diagrams and factory service manuals here: Largest Collection Of Mazda Manuals On The Net!

Hit me up if you have any other questions.

Yeah, I do plan to use the truck manifold, I just wondered about other manifolds.

Very informative, thanks for the manuals. Been looking through your pictures on Facebook, your build is very impressive, I can't wait to see it run. I will be sending you a PM shortly with some questions.
