The story:
I searched high and low for several years to find "the one". I was initially after a CYM or CW car but the stars never aligned. I then came across this car and knew I had to have it. I bought it when it was bone stock at about 16,000 miles. It has been a California car its whole life. Garage kept in my climate controlled garage, I only drive it on nice days and only park it in places that I can have eyes on it. It is truly one of the nicest ones left. It has been to Sevenstock and JCCS and gets compliments everywhere it goes. Hot starts and cold starts perfectly.
Modifications:
Given the mileage and condition, I agonized over every modification for weeks, sometimes months before I actually pulled the trigger. I kept safety, reliability, and modernization as the focus. I feel how the car sits now is a perfect OEM+ "build" and all the stock parts have been retained. It passes CA emissions without issue and that can be taken care of (if the buyer resides in CA).
Condition:
The car is in near perfect condition, the paint looks dripping wet and 10 feet deep. As I mentioned above, it appears to have been repainted at some point. All the OEM Mazda glass is present, no misaligned panel gaps, no odd overspray, so I believe it to have been a clear coat issue from the factory like many early VR cars exhibited. I have used Idemitsu premix 0.5 ounces/gallon during my ownership. Always hand washed with the 2 bucket method and lovingly cared for.
Issues:
The radio is inoperable
The rearview mirror is loose (stays in place, doesn't affect driveability)
I have hundreds of photos to share with interested parties. Not in a rush to sell but I'm out of space and rarely drive the car so looking for the next caretaker.
Thank you for looking.
