Unknown, I bought them used and only put a gas tanks worth of mileage on them. They appear clean, thus my gut says they do not have many miles on them? I'm listing my FD for sale next month so I decided to put on a new set of Tein's to hopefully entice a buyer that 98% of the car is mechanically new/restored.
Those are an OEM part and one of the few Mazda offered * as height adjustable OEM. Showa is more a motorcycle shock maker but these were also used on the NSX in period.
They have a internal mechanical feature that makes the damping adjust to the road surface.
I run these on my car and have had to replace units from time to time, but there are always replacements available cheap on Yahoo Japan.
I just completed a 500 mile mountain roads run last weekend and they were marvellous.
Thanks @Redbul that's great to know. My Mazdaspeed ones are leaking (and they're NLA, to my knowledge)...so nice to know these would be a pretty slick replacement that are not NLA. I'm not sure I have the bandwidth to work on this right now, but I'll definitely keep these in mind.
GLWS on the car @Brekyrself - looking forward to seeing it here!
Not necessarily not NLA. Just that there seems to be lots of used ones that come available.
Some may have been removed from cars when new.
Generally used cars in Japan are lower mileage and so good used sets also come up.
To my knowledge the springs are what Mazda call "normal", being the base version springs.
However, I believe the springs have the same part number as the replacement springs for the Type R2, which was the big deal with the Type R2 (more forgiving than R1 springs, but still race-worthy) .
(Full disclosure: I have recently acquired four sets of these coil-overs, from various sources. A lifetime supply!)
The main reason to get these are not the lowering (they dont offer that much adjustability), but the ability to corner balance the car while still keeping it close to stock in feel and setup
I have two sets myself and they are such a good upgrade for just $400.
