I finished this build during the spring of this year, 2024. Over the last year, I went through the car mechanically and changed, rebuilt, or replaced just about everything. If a nut or bolt had too much surface rust, I would replace that as well with the proper Mazda or JIS 10.9 zinc plated hardware. Every o-ring or crush washer possible was replaced during the reassembly process.

 VIN: JM1FD3314P0208672
~1k miles on the complete build detailed below.

Engine – 72,*** mile block taken from my other FD which I then rebuilt for this car.

Rebuilt with Mazda seals / gaskets / bearings / replacement housings / etc...

Transmission / Drive train 72,*** miles taken from my other FD

Replaced transmission input seal

Replaced transmission output seal

SS clutch line

Clutch Master cylinder

Clutch slave cylinder

 SR Motorsports lightweight flywheel

ACT Street Strip clutch kit with Monoloc collar

Exedy clutch release bearing

 Shifter rod plastics replaced

 Replaced front wheel hub/bearings

Replaced rear wheel bearings

Replaced rear wheel hubs

 Replaced differential output seals

SuperPro diff bushings

Electronics / Fuel

AEM Series 1 PnP ECU – Boost set at 10psi, safe tune up to 14psi on 93 octane. Keep below 12psi if only 91 octane is available.

AEM Inline Wideband

Fast(ish) reacting intake air temp sensor

Walbro 255 fuel pump with upgraded tank wiring

Mazda Fuel pressure regulator

Mazda Fuel pulsation damper

850 Primary injectors, cleaned by RC

850 Secondary injectors, cleaned by RC

Mazda front strut bar

New Mazda Camber bolts front and rear

Brakes / Wheels

Rebuilt front calipers

Rebuilt rear calipers

Stainless Sakebomb brake lines

 Master Cylinder rebuilt

ABS pump rebuilt with new o-rings

 Hawk 5.0 street pads

Fluids:

Oil changed @ 100 miles after rebuild.

Renewable Lubricants Bio-SynXtra 10w30

Oil Filter K&N HP-1008

Renewable Lubricants Premix 0.5oz/gallon (Just for added peace of mind. The JDM Mikuni OMP pump along with the AEM ecu can inject plenty of oil if desired!)

Transmission Fluid Renewable Lubricants 80w-90 (first time using this in the transmission. When hot, shifts fantastically. When cold, a little notchy)

Differential Fluid Renewable Lubricants 80w-90

Brake Fluid Wilwood EXP600

Power Steering Fluid Idemitsu

Coolant 2/3 distilled water, 1/3 Prestone, 1 bottle redline water wetter
 The bad?

The 30 year old paint looks stunning from a distance, however... There are plenty of rock chips on the hood & front fenders. The engine bay has some nicks here and there. The rear bumper has two small spots where it looks like the clear coat is failing. A few dings/dents/scratches around the car, nothing some Paint-less Dent Removal & a paint correction couldn’t fix. Or dive in and give the car the paint job it deserves!

The 30 year old interior plastics look to be original. Almost all of them show some wear and tear from faded color, to scratches, to broken tabs/clips. The passenger side rear bin was cut at the bottom, possibly for a battery relocation at some point? The center vent has two cracks. Thankfully 93 pieces are still available new from Mazda or even better the two individuals who make the upgraded parts!

Driver side door lock is stiff. Locks fine when in the car, however when using the key it does not always want to lock on the drivers side. When turning the key from the drivers side, the passenger side locks fine however the driver side does not always lock. SO you can still open the handle even though the car thinks it is locked, setting off the alarm.

Passenger side fog light glass has a crack

CD player is non-functional. Bose radio works fine!

Price: $56,789. Only trades + cash I would be interested in is a new Mazda 13brew block or the impossible to find: a Montego blue slicktop!

I want to know how long you planned this so that your 1,234th post was for your car being sold for $56,789.

That is one crazy-*** coincidence

Price is negotiable of course, had to start somewhere!

Just to reiterate any trades, I would be interested in a new Mazda 13brew block, new engine plates/housings/rotors, or the impossible to find: a Montego blue slicktop!

$51,777

Bose radio went out, working on locating another or replacing it with something aftermarket.

Cleaned up the thread.
Forum rules - if you aren't buying the car, don't post (i.e. thread crapping)
Compliments are always good though.

That is an astonishingly clean car!

Passenger seat re-upholstered and installed. Still on the hunt for a replacement Bose radio, however for the right price I could include the famous old school Nakamichi CD700 II radio!

Liquid on the ground is water, I just washed it!

The market is really soft now. Bring a Trailer just sold a similar one to yours but with only 72k miles on it for $33,750. Cheap. Good luck with the sale.

The market is soft for sure. This is a perfect drivers FD, turn key, mechanically restored.

Thanks to Brekyrself for building this beauty, and providing a whole bunch of info to get me moving.
Picked her up last Friday & drove 1300miles home.
Seems like a reasonable way to get used to your first FD right?
