Description:

LHD 1993 mazda rx7 R1 SHELL
Decided to sell my 1993 r1 as i don't see myself having time to restore this fd in the way i had pictured from the ground up to be oem plus build .

There is some previous dents repaired, paint is faded and primered where previous owner fixed(not by me) i bought this fd shell missing a few items such as headlights front brakes, and and some door cups wich I replaced with the aluminum never gna break kind, aswell as i replaced a broken driverside door handle .  This fd comes with some extras such as oem, catalytic converter, oem, downpipe, under belly pan, aluminum radiator and stock fans, transmission and drive shaft.  It is only missing the engine and rear diferential. So if u been looking for a reasonable price fd this is the way to go as my asking price is more than fair for fd lhd shell in this condition especially the complete interior.
65K miles on chassis

interior is in amazing shape nothing broken or scratched, even comes with oem radio and center map pocket In perfect working condition.  It is missing driverside door map pocket and rear hatch carpet for bose system i have just not installed.
Rebuilt title, registered and in my name
rare LHD R1 no sunroof slick top.

Reason for selling i dont see myself having time to restore this fd and I currently already have another fd R1 .

No trades
asking $15,000
located Seattle wa

Is car legally registered for the road. I.e. not salvage title or such?

Rebuilt title is not bad if it's done correct and went to the state specialist inspection station and it passed the test then that particular state will generate a new clean title for the car.

the rebuilt title will stay with it. I have an M5 with rebuilt title in the same state and it will never show as a clean title again (otherwise it would be fraud). Good car for someone to build, but they need to be ok with accepting it won't have good resale value.

So it could be put back on the road, but with the rebuild title still attached?

I suppose it would have to pass some sort of inspection.

I wonder how crossing the border, in an un-rebuilt condition, with a rebuild title would work?

(Not expecting an answer.)

Rebuilt title just means it was totaled/salvaged, and then fixed and passed inspection to be roadworthy again. Instead of a car getting fixed and issued a new clean title, it gets issued a rebuilt title so future buyers and insurance companies know about the history. I have no idea if this kind of thing can be washed away when transferring across boarders.

It is not washed away and is actually more of a pain if it crosses the border. You need a second structural / body integrity inspection to register in Canada.

Thanks, great info.

Idea would be to use as a basis for a track only vehicle.

Downside would be limited by selling parts.

I bought my FD through an auction website that repossess cars. The place is located in Sioux Falls South Dakota. The car had front end damage (had to replace passenger headlight shroud and radiator support area) the FD's title was salvaged. I thought this was due to the damage, but after receiving paperwork I found nothing about the damage and only that the bank took the car because the owner was not making payments.

I was able to replace and weld the new front pieces on and I was worried about how the DMV process was going to be handled. I wasn't sure if our small garage repairs were going to pass the inspections and that I was going to be disappointed that I wasn't going to be able to rebuild the title.

So, I live in Oregon and well, I had absolutely nothing to worry about because it couldn't have been any easier. I literally had to fill out like two documents. One for title to be transferred to me and the other was the rebuilt title application. I trailered the car to the DMV. The guy walked out to make sure the VIN matched the VIN on the paperwork. Didn't ask about any damage. Walked back in, paid the fees and left. He mentioned that because the car was from out of state and that every state has their own rules it was an easy process. I dunno, I was kind of confused. Maybe Oregon is just really laid back when it comes to this sort of thing Anyways, instead of the title saying "SALVAGED" it now says "BRANDED SOUTH DAKOTA"

Hope this helps and hope this R1 goes to a nice home and back on the road!

My 93 fd r1 is registered and road worthy. That tabs actually expired July 11th

I have 2 new license plates to be installed on this car and the tabs for the new buyer. Nit a branded title nit. Salvage title it's a rebuilt title.

someone needs to give this rare LHD R1 a new home.

I would hate to see it. But might make more financial sense to part it out. But if you do that, you need to go all the way, a half parted out car is worth very little.

Im sure Those gentlemen who have purchased bare bones fd shells,no wiring, windows ect for 7k would love that. I have been approached by many asking to part out my fd as it is a rare sight to find one with complete interior as u will easily spend a LARGE amount piecing together JUST interior.

I could never do something so bad to a fd and part it out. I will keep it if no one wants a drivers car as special as this r1 fd.

The black spots look like giant holes in the body. Perhaps rattle can them a matching red and repost.

How many of the missing interior pieces do you actually have in a box somewhere?
