NO TITLE, NOT STREET LEGAL - CAR SOLD WITH BILL OF SALE
LOCATED IN INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - North Lake Tahoe.
Chassis# JM1FD3315P0206297, was raced extensively in the mid 1990’s, From 1994 and 1995 in the IMSA Supercar series against RX7 greats like Peter Farrell and others. From there, in 1996, to World ChallengeT1 and IMSA GT including Daytona 24hrs and Petit Lemans with a 15thoverall and winning GT2 in 1998. In 1998 the car was crowned USRRC GT2 Champion. From Pettit’s older web site “At season end Pettit had 140 points - 63 points more than the 2nd place team. This same car raced the Daytona Rolex 24-hour race 4 times." The Chassis shows some battle scars from those days but aligns and corners as it should and has proven that it remains competitive today, with multiple wins and podiums during my ownership.
Originally converted to a race car in 1994 by Sylvain Trembley and Cameron Worth from a 1993 FD and raced SCCA and IMSA Supercar soon after. Sylvain and Cameron went separate ways after 1994 with Sylvain starting Speed Source Race Engineering in May of 1995 and eventually teaming with Mazda while Cameron grew Excellent Performance/Pettit Racing into a successful business built around his racing experience and success with this car. Among many drivers, another notable includes Bill Lester, who went on to success in NASCAR Truck series and a few Nascar Cup car shows.
The car can be seen on Youtube videos of old races like the1994 Phoenix IMSA Supercar race and the 1998 Petite Lemans. The car was also pictured in 1997 Mazda Competition Parts Catalogue and the 2000 publication of the Mazda RX7Performance Handbook as well as used repeatedly for marketing for Excellent Performance/Pettit racing.
I’ve owned the car for 18 years. Purchased from the previous owner in Florida in 2004. He purchased the car and spares from Cameron Worth at Excellent Performance (Pettit racing) in early 2000. Bills of sale from Cameron to Mark and then to me in hand. Originally racing in the 90’s in white livery (see pics), the car was painted black by the previous owner and again by me a few years ago.
The previous owner raced the car infrequently in the Florida area for a few years where upon it was sold to me. I raced in the San Francisco Region of the SCCA for a number of years with success both in Sprint races and also Endurance event, winning the SCCA Elgin 4hr enduro, 1st in class and 2ndoverall along with multiple SCCA regional event wins and podiums. The car raced infrequently as my career had me out of the country half the year. An SCCA Logbook with Sylvian Tremblay as the first name in the book comes with the car..
The car is fresh. Last on track 8 years or so, but in my garage for many of those years as I worked to refresh and clean up many years of racing evolution on the car. Electrical, running gear, suspension all fresh and ready to race.
The car is fast. 2430 lbs with 429hp/333tq at the wheels. Exceptional balance at 3% rear bias with 6 gals of gas. 50/50 cross and perfect alignment. Easy on tires and brakes. Dyno sheets and set up notes will be furnished to the new owner along with a binder full of information, equipment manuals and a box of receipts back to early 2000's
This car remains competitive today. There are not many mid 90s VIN# chassis, vintage eligible racecars as quick and sorted, and even fewer Rotary powered. Nearly ready to race, less belts and tires.
As the car sits today, the Haltech, single turbo, 13b is dyno only, transmission is OEM Liberty Gears with Cryo and the rear end is low milage, cooled, 3.9 geared OEM. Penske 8300 d/a fronts are new and rear Koni’s d/a are refreshed and dyno’d. Bushings are heim and Delrin. Detailed build list available.
With not many vintage eligible FD’s racing today this is an opportunity to own a unique, “affordable” and impressively quick car. Race SCCA or NASA next weekend or evolve to vintage racing or go drifting. Extensive spares listed in pics, include original spec hi flow twin turbos and related parts to take the car in any direction.
Sale includes car and all spares. Articles, pictures and historical data, hard copy and on a thumb drive. Please reach out for detailed build list.
A 2003 24” enclosed Kendall trailer is also available separately. Trailer has 5250lb axles x2, diamond plate floors and white melamine walls, Extra height. Pitpal ramps and door rack, new Tires and bearings recently serviced and includes a load bearing receiver hitch.
Buyer to pay for shipping or pick up. I can assist with arrangements and facilitating process.

This car has been in books.
This car has been in our living rooms as we grew up watching it race.
Someone with $ can restore it to period correct livery fairly easily.
I spent a lot of time in North Tahoe in my youth, really fun thought to think this was being kept away safe and sound in your garage.
GLWS!
BaT doesn't seem to do well with race cars... Seems they want to focus more on low mileage street / collector cars. I think this ad is a good start as the hardcore RX7 community sees this and can get the word out - if it doesn't result in a direct sale from here. Ebay might be a good option as well. Mazzei sold his car on there.
Are those sway bars custom? What work has been done on the body itself? Spot welding?
I would like to build my car to be something similar to this...
