 I am doing some prototyping on the motor I will run at the Texas Mile this October and so my current motor (shortblock) needs a new home. I built it in August of 2019 and it has around 500 miles on it. (2020 was a lost year as far as car stuff as it was dedicated to moving from Wisconsin to Georgia.)

 I have been busy with the motor this year and have tested 3 different intercoolers etc. the available roads in the mountains of NE Georgia are Tail of the Dragon-like so the most I can get out of third gear is close to 7000 and that is up a modest incline. So the motor has had light duty.

A compression check cold yesterday showed 106-111-100 F and 106-119-109 R. pretty typical for my ports which have 20 degrees additional overlap.

 The motor was built with best of parts and to CPR spec. it also has Chips Motorsports thru-bolts and a Garfinkle oilpan brace. Oil pressure is 55 at idle and it pulls between 15 and 16 inches of mercury at 1100 idle.

Compression is still rising and was 8% higher in the last 30 days. It is about 400 mm/hg currently and should eventually end up around 420+. The (identical)  motor I ran for four years, and took apart just to re-measure clearances, was at the top of the compression curve at four years and around 430.

Here is a picture of one of the rotors from my previous motor just as it came out of the motor. After 4 years around 500 hp it looks like it did when i built it. That’s the magic of AI.

another key on motor evaluation as to condition is in piston parlance: windage. we know it as crankcase pressure... as in leaky oil rings, side seals, flaked chrome on rotor housing edges or weak corner seal springs. take a close look at the site gauge on my breather. bone dry.

The motor is ready to go and can be in your engine bay making noise in 7 days if you are so motivated.

Goopy .004 oversized 2 mm apex seals custom fitted to .002 to groove.

All 12 sideseals set at .002

OE corner seals (better than Atkins because of the low drag chrome)

Inconel corner seal springs

10.9/Grade 8 stationary gear bolts

Crank runout is .0005 

Rotor housings were almost new and sent to Adam at Rotary Specialties for his best in class honing

Main bearings new, rotor bearings were perfect

Rear iron coolant tube drilled, tapped, plugged. Oil injector ports blocked.

Ports are happy around town and make good power at 8800. Peak torque 6250.

Here’s a fun log from one of my (identical) motors… most dyno runs are in 4th gear. This was in fifth to 330 KPH/205 MPH. lots of time to stress the motor. Over 8600 in fifth around 575 and happy. notice the motor pulled for over 11 seconds around 575 in fifth.



I have a pretty good rate with my shipper and you can be looking at the motor in a few days.
