Description:

I made a few extra of these ultra lightweight 3.5" exhaust systems:  https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-pr...tible-1143344/

Right now I have one dolphin and one straight tip available, both are setup to bolt to the factory twins downpipes via the 3.5" > 3" reducer.

If there is great demand, I would have to get a group buy going to make it financially viable.  These systems are built with the best of the best mufflers and parts available that are suitable for the rotary.

To recap the group buy thread:

-All Stainless Steel (pipe, flanges, clamps, mufflers, everything)

-Largest possible, yet high flowing mufflers to reduce noise and drone with the large 3.5” piping.  One in the midpipe, one in the rear section.

-Proper high temperature scrubble packing. THIS IS KEY, other mufflers internal material can degrade over time due to the rotary’s high EGT’s, common lack of cats, and will start to drone over time.

-Bolt to factory TT downpipe location optional via reducer. Perfect for owners who will chop that off later when moving to a 3.5” downpipe from a single turbo etc…

-Modular. Some might ask why the mufflers are not welded to the piping? 1: The piping is meant to be sent to your favorite ceramic coater to further improve performance and heat management.  2:  This will allow you to swap in a cat if you so desire.  3:  If you ever go single turbo you can simply replace the front section or cut off the 3" flange to bolt to a 3.5" downpipe.

-Light weight. ~27lb for the midsection and rear section!

-Clears all factory braces

$2250 shipped within the lower 48 states.

what brand is the muffler?
How did you come up with $2,250 for the price with 1 muffler, 1 $7 flange, $ 26 clamps and maybe $60 worth of ss,pipe?

Your costs are a little low and there are two mufflers.

Mid pipe muffler is a single stage scrubble packed muffler $365 plus shipping
https://www.profabrication.com/index...d-muffler.html

Rear section two stage, scrubble packed not listed on their site: $575 + shipping
https://www.profabrication.com/index...e-muffler.html

Quality racing beat flange $30 plus shipping
https://www.racingbeat.com/RX7-1993-...ges/16185.html

SS pipe is not all the same either, many different gauges let alone type of stainless.

Last but not least, paying a local welder to do a professional job welding these is not cheap. Hell shipping these properly will cost around $200 via UPS.

Profab bought the muffler making from the original company Coast Fab who was making these mufflers for professional race cars etc... You can google the history. These are as good as it gets.

Halloween bump! Just to clarify as I get many questions, this is a complete exhaust from the downpipe back. Two mufflers, one under the car and one in the rear.

Yes, simple. I leave the system modular so you can:

1. Get the whole thing ceramic coated for heat reduction
2. Swap out the muffler under the car for a cat of your choice, see picture below. You may need to weld 3.5" > 3" reducers on each end of the cat as 3.5" cats are not often easy to come by.

The clamps pictured were just temps, the system comes with the huge beefy stainless clamps.

Thanksgiving black friday bump! Have 3 available. 2 straight tip and 1 dolphin tip.

This is one of the lightest, highest flowing, highest quality, modular systems available for the FD so you can easily adapt it to different setups and even add a cat!

Any idea how loud it is?

Specifically, recorded with a decibel meter measured a foot or two from the exhaust tip at a few different RPMs.

I will buy an actual meter and test again after the first of the year.

In the mean time, I did test with an app on the phone: https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-pr.../#post12404770

Once I get the FD back up and running I am also going to see if there is a quality off the shelf high flow cat to bundle with these.

Happy New Year, time for a proper new exhaust setup!

Also working on a matching 3.5" downpipe for the twins, exciting times ahead to maximize the OEM+ type setup.

Here is the complete exhaust. Dis-regard the top unit, that was version 1. Version 2 on the bottom is the current version with two mufflers. Next step is to produce a bolt in high flow, high quality catalytic converter.

I think a sound clip as well as a flyby video would greatly increase customers desire.

Sound clips in this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-pr...tible-1143344/

Flyby videos once the weather in Chicago warms up a little.

Nice piece

The prototype for this exhaust was on my last FD at once point. I have a sound clip on my phone but the 14 sec video exceeds the max file size for the forum. If anyone is interested I would be happy to text / email the sound clip.

It was a very nice exhaust and very very light compared to what is currently on my FD.
