The Serious N/A race. Mazda vs VW

My friend and I have been wondering what will happen when we race. I really am asking who do you think will win this race.
Specs
87 Mazda RX7
1. Street ported n/a engine with S4 0.001 shaved and polished rotors
2. 460cc primaries and 550cc t2 injectors for secondaries
3. ported intake and throttle body
4. 2.5 inch exhaust
5. Oil pressure modification
6. Pineapple racing sleeve inserts
7. Electric 5th/6th ports
8. Weighing about 2600 lbs
9. Stage one Spec clutch
10. ECU is N326 but probably will switch to megasquirt.

86 VW Scirocco
1. 2.0 ABA block with a 1.8 head possible ported/ polished heads 10 to 1 comp
2. 2 1/4 inch exhaust
3. ported and polished intake with throttle body
4. K&N filter
5. Weighing about 2200 lbs
6. Megasquirt
7. 272 cam

Sorry it will be hard to figure out but there you go. It is just for ***** and giggles really. Why we haven't raced yet is because we are building are engines.

By the time the races finishes, we'll be pulling troops back from Iraq.

let me elaborate: By the time the two of your start and finish this race, the troops will be sent back from iraq. IE: Slow cars .

Your car sounds pretty nice, it must run hard for an N/A. I think you'd take him

Well I'm hoping it will be pretty quick for a n/a. The scirocco no one really knows it but that car is one of the lightest cars ever made.

Toyo Kogyo a basic stock S4 t2 comes with like 186 horsepower and 183ft lbs of torque. With what i'm going to be running I'm pretty sure i'll be making more than that by like a little bit. Probably around 200 or more just a little bit. I'm not trying to be rude I'm just stating the fact.

What the HELL does a car's top speed or how quick it is mean a ******' thing? A race is a race, and the op's question is valid. Some of the responses.....seem pretty cruel.
No need for anyone to get all 'superior', you know?

I would say the VW might just edge out the Mazda. The race will be decided in the first three or four seconds.

Yeah i know what you mean. I really dislike bad remarks. Uhhh i'm going to think that to but you know if I'm redlining it he will be shifting shorter. So there might be a chance when I shift into second I'll probably be a couple of feet in front of him. Really the only thing he wil have on me is weight. His Car will only be pushing about 150.

i own a 1988 GXL N/A i must say i have alot of faith in it, and i dont think the first couple seconds will be the deciding point. the RX7's are all top end, so ill also dis agree with being ahead in second. from my experiences my taking point to win the race is usually 3rd gear because it has a nice steady climb in 3rd gear from 100kmph-160kmph where the other car will probably shift at 130-140kmph so there is about a second where the car is not accelerating. i think it would be close tho, N/A's need alot of work to make them fast, but sounds like ur doing a good job

You're not going to be making much power above 6500 or so, so I would be careful about taking it to redline. You know best where your powerband is, use it well.
Good luck, it will be a fun race. Hell's Bells....I used to race Rabbits and the like in my old Triumph TR-7, all 86 bhp of it!

Well, simply put it is where your car stops making power. Without a dyno you have to rely on your "butt dyno", to tell you where you notice a big fall-off in power delivery. At some point engines just rev more but don't make the power necessarily. Just go out and make some runs on a nice clear road and watch the tach and speedo and see how it "feels". Or do some runs with a passenger with a stopwatch to be more accurate....do things like time yourself on a specific distance and shift at different points. Obviously when you shift too early you will notice a "bogging" sensation and get slower times. The idea is to find that 'sweet spot' where you know you should shift for maximum power. This is why a lot of aftermarket tachs have shift lights built into them, it isn't for over-revving protection necessarily but to have a visual display of when to shift without having to take your eyes off the road.
If you've ever ridden motorcycles much you'll know what I mean as bikes run out of their powerband pretty early in some cases. It does you no good to just keep revving to redline.

Oh ok cause it wastes time on shifting right.
So I have about 2 people that think I can't do it. Is there anymore.

You'll whoop him... I ran my ABA Jetta I/E against my friend's I/H/E S4 FC (dyno'd 150ish whp) we went from a dig, I launched hard as hell, roasted through first and slammed into second, by the time I looked back he was reeling me in like a fish. He hadn't launched at all just taken off normally. By the top of second he was past me. The ABA is a turd even after mods he won't get above 150ish at the wheels, from your mod list you're looking at 170-190whp range. He's only got a chance from a low speed roll I'd say.

I had a 88 N/A converted to carb. Had a delartor side draft with a holly fuel pump and it pulled nicely.
