Ricer Fly-By in a Truck-WTF
So I am out driving around town last night in my GSL-SE/TII and it is pretty dead. Used to be alot of Honda's running around town that were fun to beat up on, but they have disappeared in the last few months so no fun. Anyway, I am driving through town and I pull up next to a late 90's short bed, regular cab Dodge Ram truck at a red light. I stop, don't even glance at the driver, just listening to my stereo. I have one hand on the wheel and the other on the shifter watching the light. The truck is an auto and I hear the driver rev it lightly a few times, maybe 1500rpms. The ligh turns green and I take off pretty easy, 2800rpm clutch slip and no boost. I hear the truck kick it down so I kick it. I pull away pretty easily and I am about 3 car lengths ahead by the time I reach 50mph. I am in a 40 zone so I let off and put in fourth and let it coast. About 5 seconds later the truck goes blasting by me at about 55mph and once he gets about 10 lengths ahead, he slams on his brakes and slows to a normal driving speed. I just had to laugh. A ricer fly-by by a redneck in a pickup.

Yeah, I know what you saying zinx. I am used to it out of diesels, but this was plain jam Ram which is why it surprised me. Most the guys like to drive like a bat out of hell anywhere they go. Out on the highway they like to drive 80-90mph, at least around here. I guess you right about trucks being the new ricers. Just like the Hondas, alot of truck guys in the south like to through on a set of glasspacks and think is some sorta race truck. I give the Lightnings, SRT-10 Rams, SS Silverados, and tuned Diesels respect, but most trucks are pretty slow.
u have no idea!! my college fills these kids with so much bs its not even funny. "DIESELS MAKE SO MUCH HORSEPOWER STOCK, gas engines suck" ... yea with a 7.0 litre and 30 psi... morons
I dont know guys i know a lot of people around my area with dodge ram diesels that are in the 12's 11's and a few of them are hitting the 9's so dont discount diesels. Oh and my brother has a diesel that only runs 15's and he runs 70 PSI.

I am in complete agreement on the diesels. I in no way meant to say diesels were slow. I have alot of respect for diesels and the hp, and more importantly torque, they can put down. I have personally seen a Ford Excusion SUV with a Powerstoke run 13.9s in the 1/4 mile of which I was really impressed. What I hate is mid 80's 4x4 F-150's with a 302 and a loud exhaust who think they are king. I actually had some redneck in a F-150 with a flatbed stop me at Sonic and inform we I wasn't taking off properly. When I informed him that it was a 6-puck ceramic race clutch and that's why I needed to slip it a little, he told me that I was just being stupid. I promptly dumped the clutch and peeled out. Fast trucks get my respect, not loud trucks with dumbass owners who don't know the first thing about a fast car or truck..

^^^ +1
And about the diesel business...there was a old **** bucket lookin mid 90's ram around here that put down over 1,000 ft/lbs of torque. Not sure how much boost he was running, I think it was some kind of twin turbo set up , but that truck will surprise the **** outta somebody.

LOL..
I raced a guy in a twin turboed Hardly Harly F150 from about 20mph to about 120mph in my FD. At first I got kinda scared because I couldn't shake him, but after 80mph or so....that little thing called wind resistance must have started kicking in
. By 120 I was probably about 3-4 cars in front.
We slowed, he eventually pulled up and told me he was twin charged. I told him I only had exhaust upgrades (as in no cats), ECU and other minor trinkets

Haha, I got my *** stomped 0-80 by a stock looking F-250 shortbed single cab. Turns out he had a whole host of Bullydog upgrades including the 6-stage power controller, propane injection, bigger intercooler, turbo upgrade, 5" exhaust... you know...
Back in Cali a few yrs ago I was at the light waiting and a big lifted chevy truck with the baja set up I guess(skid guard, wide fiberglass fenders, etc) pulled up next to me and started reving alittle. So I thought screw it and when the light changed I drove it like I stole it. Turns out the truck was supercharged and blew the doors of my n/a.
when i had my FD i had all the hondas flying by me redlining and there exhaust is like 200 dbs. i just ignore them and they just continue to bug me untill they get bored.. but thats the main reason i got rid of my FD too much attention. i got a
s2000 in place of it. i dont get much attention unless im gunning it because vtech is so loud with a intake. i do miss my FD though... but i dont miss the rotary. thing was in the shop at least once a week... now i get a bunch of subies and evos trying to race me.. because they knew they couldnt touch the FD..
