New MOPAR HEMI Smoked by GoodfellaFD3s Ported 3rd Gen

So, I'm driving South on the highway and it's around 37 degrees Fahrenheit, 10:30PM and the traffic's light. My ProFec-B is set to its' lowest setting since the engine is newly rebuilt.

My New Motor Rebuild, shortblock and street-port (intakes mostly and little off the Exhausts please) was done by "GoodfellaFD3S" @ IRP. The engine now has arount 842 total miles on the clock so far. I have the boost on the ProFec-B turned to it's lowest setting. But, the engine feels amazing strong tonight.

Anyway, something moving REAL fast began closing on my ***. The appoaching driving lights caught my attention as he rapidly closed the distance between us.

A new Gold or yellowish HEMI (I caught a glimpse of his HEMI-badge), dual exhaust, stock factory wheels etc. sedan blasts by, pulsing the trottle as he goes.... Jeeeze, talk about temptation..... !!

GoodfellFD3S had cautioned me on breaking the new engine in easy for the first 1,000 to 1,500 miles before romping on it. But, I figure, what hell !!! It isn't everyday a muscle car of any flavor begs for an ***-wooping! And, to be honest, I really didn't expect much performance at this boost setting and was more interested to see just how badly this new MOPAR Iron would pull on me.

So I downshifted to 3rd and fire-walled the pedal. I upshifted 4th at 7K RPM and ripped past this guy. I figured, hell, he'd let up and was just doing a short blast. But, when he realized this little red "whatever-it-was" he'd just passed was now flying past his drivers door, he got back in it.... His engine was pretty distinctive.... and throaty as he floored it.

He started to close the distance between us but couldn't seem to finish the job. I upshited to 5th and kept going. As our speeds exceeded 130 the highway began to curve to the right and I could feel the lateral "Gs" multiply and build. I felt my nose squat and tuck in and my *** get a little loose. But, otherwise the car settled in a stable track and I kept building speed.

Now, I was glad I had the Tikicos and the lowered springs. The REX was in its' element and things were getting serious. The steet port was starting to really make a difference at these speeds and the engine seemed to build top end velocity much faster than I ever remembered. I was especially surprised given the lowered boost settings I'd dialed in for the breakin. And, yet, the engine felt much stronger than I ever remembered or experienced from the old motor.

Now, granted, the Turbos are BRAND NEW.....and the entire Motor freshly Ported and rebuilt by GoodfellaFD3S, but I'd not expected such a performance difference of the new Versus old. This was freakin GREAT !!!

Anyway, the MOPAR lost his nerve at around 145mph and didn't even try to continue our little game. And, much to my surprise, he could never seem to close gap between us or ever get into an overtake position inspite of the open road. The highway was like 5 lanes wide with NO traffic for our entire blast... he just didn't have the beans pull or out pace me. Surpised me as much as him, I'm sure!!

Anyway, Thanks for the Outstanding rebuild GoodfellaFD3s.... You did one hell of a Job !!! I guess you clearenced those side-seals just right !!

Most of 287 is uneven and pot-holed.... with some good stretches which are perfect for a quick blast. In fact, Me and that HEMI were kinda like the two dancers here... One Nimbel.... and one NOT!!

Nice, I've wondered how my car would do against one of those...was it the 340 horse hemi, or the 6.1 liter SRT-8 with 425 hp?

Given our speeds.... the subject just didn't come up... if ya know what I mean

Imagine yourself ripping down the PCH, on a 1000+ cc crotch-rocket doing triple digits.... If a Hayabusa rips past... ya don't exactly have time to exchange MODs.... .... But it sounded mean !!

Nice kill. Given the mods to your FD, I'd say it was definately an SRT-8. HOWEVER... you probably should have resisted the temptation to race and fully broken in your motor first.

Realisticly, he didn't hurt anything with almost 1000 miles and one oil change already on the motor

You called a new Dodge/Chrysler a muscle car. NO!

But nice kill. If it was an SRT8, it would've given you a run for your money.

And you raced a Dodge Charger it seems.

Did it look anything like this? It's hard to tell an SRT8 from a normal charger aside from the rims, hood scoop, and badges. I don't think it was an SRT8 though, those cars run 13's in stock form.

they are probably about as quick as a RX8

as others have already said- if it was a SRT8 it has alot more going for it

In the future dont even waste your gas.

The picture that I attached IS an SRT-8. It clearly has SRT rims, SRT interior, and the SRT badge is clearly seen in the front grille.

And yes, the SRT8's are faster, I would hope so pushing out 420hp and 420lb-ft.
