My 93 FD vs T3/T4 MX-6 @ 14 psi - *VIDEO!*

So this past weekend I finally got a chance to race Jim, who has a boosted 2nd gen MX-6 running 13-14 psi and meth injection. I let him set the criteria for the race, since I didn't want to have any unfair advantage. He didn't want to race from a dig, since he can't launch his car. There has been a lot of controversy over "who won," but I'll let the video speak for itself. He couldn't catch traction in 2nd, but to be fair I have to shift slowly into 3rd so I don't **** up my 5th gear synchro any worse (it was bad when I got the car), and had a passenger/full tank of gas (he had a passenger as well, but I believe the MX-6 is stripped). Enjoy, and comments are welcome! Mods are in my sig.

Edit :: I also forgot to mention that the camera car is a Nissan 240 with a motor swap running 14-15psi.

You beat him, atleast it looked like it to me. He had you by a little when you passed, but you were gaining and had him passed before i saw either car let off

^ Bingo, and thank you! He absolutely did have me by a fender when we passed the camera, but I pulled on him through the top of fourth before we each let off.

Nice and close race. You should get a duct for that IC.

I also have a Sp CB with a pettit resonated MP. I love the way these exhaust sound. This is the first vid of a rx7 with a sp1 that ive seen.

Finally a good no b.s. pull posted on here. It has been bad w/ all the lil bitches lately! Both cars had slight problems. You definately were pulling away at the let off point. I remember the droning of that pettit resonated mid. when I had one. Damn loud on the highway. G

Thanks for all the comments guys. Right now, I do have the stock ducting *modified* to draft some cold air into the IC, but you're right, I do need a better one. Is there anyone on here that sells them?? Right now I cut a leftover piece of ventaridge to place above the radiator fans, in front of the IC so the hot air from the radiator goes around the IC rather than through it. (The hot air still escapes just fine, but it doesn't run through the IC). Anyway, all in all a very close race up until the very end!

Wow, cool video.

Would been better if the cam was in one of the runner cars. Watching from a chaser car is boring.

But that is one fast *** mx6.

KLDEs are nice engines, it's the trannies that suck.

Speaking of sucky trannies, by the top of 4th, you would have been around 130-135mph at least, right? He runs out of gear at 140mph in 5th. I'd bet if he had more gear, he would have kept up with you longer.

You're definitely right about those trannies!
Also, I should have specified...We raced from 30 - 115 mph, and I began pulling on him hard within the last 15 mph of the race. So, he may not have fallen behind as fast had he had another gear, but I don't think he would have entirely kept up. However, I'm not entirely sure about MX-6 trannies, but I've done 145+ a couple times in my Probe.

Oh, and Franklin, I was running 11-12 psi.

Those are some nice numbers for 12psi! Stock port? I have similar mods and was hoping to make around 350.. have to wait till October though

Thanks! And yep, stock ports for now. However, I should note that on the dyno boost crept to 13 psi, but only at 7500 rpms. It held steady at 12 psi for the rest of the run.

What year Probe? mods?

Maybe with an Escort 5th gear you could hit 145mph, but short of that, you're not breaking 140mph in any second gen probe GT without a custom transmission or raising the redline.

It's a Supercharged 95 Probe GT with a motor swap. I'm running a KLZE with ported and polished heads, full pacesetter exhaust with headers, CAI, Jacobs ignition, Fidanza flywheel, MSnS piggybacked ECU, boosted by an M62 supercharger @ 8 psi with water injection. It's very possible that my speedo was off at that high of speed, but I toped it out several times past 140 in 5th, with several hundred rpms to go on the tach. However, the tachs were also known for being off in those cars. All in all though, it's pretty quick for what it is!

It's funny, a few months back on PT there was a thread about "graduates", a shitload of guys who used to have Probes/MX6s and now have 7s.

I miss my PGT every day, but I guess I'm off to bigger and better...I'll get another one, when I want to do a fully stripped down race car. I know CZT stopped making parts, but does anyone else make upgraded UIMs, Trannys, tranny fixes and/or valve trains? I've seen quite a few really FAST probes recently. "In my day, the fastest Probe in the world was a first gen(fallguy) running mid 11s". I recently saw a dyno vid of a 2g putting down over 500whp though, so that's definately new to me

BTW, I'm 95PGTR on PT, but I rarely log in anymore, since I sold my Probe in early 2005.

TRWeiss, your Probe sounds a lot like Kenny Hynes' car. Does it have about $30,000 worth of custom body work done to it too?

No, I can't say it does! :P It does have way more money than it should into it though!!
I got it in 2001, and it was bone stock. My dad and I did the bodykit in 2003, and I did just about all of the other mods over the years. It's definitely come a long way! The first time I took it to the track I ran a 15.5, and my best run after the supercharger was a 12.9 @ 109.
Unfortunately I never got it to the track when I was running a 100 shot.
