My 2000 STi vs RX7

I got beat by a 1999 RX7

Respect to the FD3S..

The owner says it has some fancy parts from a 20B or 22B or something like that. Has bigger ports. Damn.. i got a real good hiding. He was running a really big turbo and 1600cc injectors. Didn't have much time to chat about the rest of the spec.

I'm running a 2000 WRX STi with Airesearch TD05/T04E turbo running 1.3 bar (and the other mods to go with it), and does a 12.8 quarter.

Nice death. Also, I didn't know they made STi's in 2000.

They made STi's in the GC8 Chassis in Japan.

It says Rasonline is from South Africa, so maybe both of the cars were imported from Japan.

Yes the cars are both imports from Japan. My car is pretty quick though and i don't usually lose to RX7s unless they are quite worked on. But this one was something else.. strange thing is the way the engine was modded, you wouldn't really say.. it doesn't look heavily worked on so that is what really got me.

i thought i was about to chalk up anotehr rx7 on the wall... when i launched, my AWD got me a little ahead and into second i expected to start getting away but he just ate up the gap and came from behind then left me like i was standing.

I just learned that the car ran a 10.8 1/4 mile this Sunday, so i kind of feel a little better now.

The GC8 chassis was discontinued in 2000 so mine is from the last year of production. It is referred to as an STi Ver 6.

Rasonline,

I saw that you have a 12.8 in the 1/4. What's your HP level at?

You said he mentioned he had a 20b. Those don't need too much work to go fast. I would love to have that engine in my car.

very good death ras.

rx7s usually come with a 13b engine (1.3 liter two rotor). a 20b (2.0 liter THREE rotor) is from another japan only car that mazda made; the Eunos cosmo. even in full stock form, the 20b in an rx7 is impressive.

a 10.8 pass is impressive in itself, but nowhere near the full potential of that motor if he begins to seriously mod it.

If he's running a big turbo, with a 20b, I'm pretty sure he'd run faster than 10's.

he probably has the irons from a 20b and not a 3 rotor.....I believe the ports in the 20bs irons are much larger if I'm not mistaken.

You're thinking of 13B-RE irons, off the Cosmo.

the 20B irons are the same, except for the thicker intermediate housing, obviously.
