Just a couple days ago i put my 7 in the shop to start rebuilding it so it is out of commission for the time being. Until its up and running again i am driving an 86 300zx n/a. It's lightly modded and pretty quick. Anyway, me and my friend in an 90 325i bimmer went out on the streets to do some runs. 2nd gear he would pull (raining, no traction) third gear i would catch up.
After we do some runs i notice a dull silver car pass me going the other direction and i realize its an 88 rx7. I turn around as fast as possible to catch, cuz i've been so curious at which one is faster, my z or my 7. Couldn't have cought the guy at a better time, cuz right when i pull up next to him the approaching light turns red. I look at him, and blip the throttle. A little grin slides onto his face, so i knew he was going to hit it.
The light flipped green and we both slowly take off then hit it at the exact same time. I figured with how much torque my z had i would pull on him, but somehow he pulled on me, then hit his powerband and pulled harder. By the end of first i was at his back fender. We both slammed it into second and my back end got a little tipsy, but i began to pull on him. At the end of second gear i was at his the middle of his door. We had to let off because of approaching cars, and because we had both blew by a cop that turned on his lights to pursue.
I pulled off the road quick, but i don't think the 7 got so lucky. It's all on tape, but the camera man sucks, so thats that. Sorry for the long thread over such a short race, but it was the best we could do considering the situations. But i'm not ashamed for the loss cuz the -"7 can't lose"!!!
