Killed a 90 somthin V8 camaro

This actually happened this past October on my birthday. My buddies and I were hanging out at gamecrazy we went to look for a game or a movie, and ended up outside just hanging out talking. So this red camaro pulls in with his girl, and hes rolling through the mall parking lot I decide I want to race, So my buddies of course encourage it, I jump in my TII its a black 88' with street ported housings, fuel system upgrade, s5 turbo, huge fmic, duel apex N1 exhaust, and mid pipe, and thunder fabrications down pipe. Running 10psi of boost. (I may be forgetting something) Anyways So I pull up to him ask if he wants to race he said sure he will follow me. So we just go out on the main road right there its about midnight. We pull up to this red light take off he gets me off the line but I quickly catch up especially in third gear, and I was about a cuople of car lengths ahead, we get to the next light and he wants to go again which is cool with me. So We take off again at green and we left about the same time this time I pulled away fast and hard, I quickly let off and went on his way so I flipped a drifting 180 and head back to my friends to talk about the win, what a great birthday present to my self.

good stuff, nice kill. any idea on what the camaro had? most 3rd gen camaros arent that fast and the v8 is only a 305 if its a 5spd and the 350s were auto only

the iroc z's were 350's, and the z28's had 305 h.o.'s if i remember correctly, although some z28's might have had 350's too??

Wh1t3 C0m3t is right. And yeah, they aren't very fast at all (in stock form). They can be modded, though the 305 isn't a very good starting platform.

I raced a '90-'92 Z28 a few months ago in my N/A FC and pulled him pretty decently.

To the OP...

Did the car look like this...
(Though this is an Iroc-Z, the one that came w/ a 350)

Or did it look like this?

the black one? well it could of been a V6 with exhaust.......slow. Even the Z28 94' model's only had LT1's which didnt throw out much to the wheels. Nice run though. With your mod list there is no surprise you took him.

yeah that different since its a 4th gen but everything i posted for the 3rd gens is correct. the 4th gen v8s are fast imo. i raced a modded SS with cut outs and he took off hard. i caught up to pass him though but the initial take off was impressive

V6 With exhaust? Are you serious? That sounds nothing like a V8 as described in the thread title. And yeah LT1's weren't all that impressive from the factory, but they were kinda quick. Good for getting F-Bodies in the Low 14's with a good driver, High 13's with God at the wheel.

A cammed 3800 v6 with a good exhaust can sound like a V8 without a problem..

yeah but come on, theres a reason why most people go with the v8. its got a lot more potential then a v6. im not saying the v6 is crap or anything, but it makes more sense to start with a higher power platform. its like if u wanna make some good power, sure you can take a 13b na and dump a lot int it to get it decent, but doesnt it make more sense to start with a 13bt?

That sounds nothing like a V8. You have got to be def or ignorant to say otherwise.

i never said that one sounds like a v8 it doesnt have a high duration cam since its running a turbo.. that was in reference to who spends money on cams for a v6...
