I am in winston salem, who is the guy in charlotte with the supra you are talking about? I might know of him. I know I am going to be argued with about this, but I feel that I have a very good perspective on supras, I have 4 friends around me with supras, 3 of which are single turbos 2 of which I helped convert to single, one car making almost 800rwhp and the other 2 making a shade over 500 rwhp on pump gas and stock fuel systems. I have had my car in 2 different single turbo configurations, once with a T78 and i also had an SP74 turbo I made 442rwhp with the T78 at 18psi and 404 rwhp at 15psi. We have raced numerous times and I have NEVER beaten any of the supras. I am talking about highway runs where driving is really not a factor. In MY experience the weight calculations do not always work, Especially on the highway where weight is LESS of a factor (notice i said "less" and not "not a factor") I think that the supras huge advantage in torque over the 7 plays a large part also. When I made 442rwhp I only made 333rwtq and when the supra makes 520rwhp it is also making 500+ rwtq. Again these are only my experiences. Flame suit now firmly secured

agreed

a 780rwhp supra will WALK a 400rwhp FD..and i know this because i saw it before my eyes..well this one mkiv was making 700rwhp but still..it still WALKED this 400rwhp..

i know the FD's advantage is awesome power to weight but when dealing with a 700hp beast, those tables are turned..

wheres apneablue?

he beat a ~568 hp supra few months back and he had 407 or so hp.

BTW, the Supra and the 350 weigh the same, with half the power you only beat the 350 by 2 cars. so 380 WHP only equals 3 and a half cars?

Not saying anything against you but something just sounds crazy.[/QUOTE]

so are you saying that if the rx-7 has 100hp less than a supra has a FD can still keep up with it?

JUST CURIOUS CAUSE A 600HP SUPRA WANTS TO RACE ME!

Supras almost always need right at 100rwhp more than the FD to hang and then quite a bit more to pull considerably on the FD.

There are a few highly modded supras here in town and I know and have run with all of them. One running right around 800 to the wheel with no2 and the other I raced has 550 and a bit more with a shot of no2...I raced the 550rwhp one some months back when his no2 wasn't squirting and it was almost even. We went from 2nd -4th but he definately missed 4th...But in each gear I was inching on him...Not terribly but deffinately gaining.

Now, he's upgraded and his last dyno was upwards of 600 and he's will be in the 900s soon...I have nothing agains supras, they are stong and easy to put down a **** load of power...But when you say equally modded, what exactly do you mean?

I just know for sure a power matched race between a supra and an FD the Supra will loose badly becaue of the power to weight ratio.

Here's the race for those interested.

Here's me getting walked by the 800rwhp supra...I didn't even get a chance to spool before he took off...we rolled from 2nd at 30mph and he squirted to spool up.

what's the difference between a 500rwhp supra and a 800rwhp supra?

They both run 12s!

i never had an avatar throughout my entire time as a member on this site..

and no i dont think i can beat a worked 2JZ or even a stock 2JZ with a big single..those engines are no joke..i might if i had HUGE single, ported with all the goods, maybe spending about 15g's but i still wont have the relibility of the 2JZ..

thats why im thinking about doing a 2JZ swap when my motor goes and i know that will happen soon enough..

If his car is legit and he's beating bikes, he should race one of the Underground Racing Vipers. That would be a fun race to watch

no, nothing to do with team rush. i do know what supra you are thinking of tho.. my friends name is john (i'll keep his last name off the boards). it's a 94 6spd, painted s2000 silver. 19" polished wheels (not sure what kind, german tho). Trust T78 kit, upgraded cams, dual walbro fuel pumps, fuel and ignition controlled with a "map ecu", not enough dyno time EGT's still barely hitting over 650c made 649.5 rwhp at 22psi on 93 octane with a 50/50 meth/water mix. if you want to see this car in person, come out to the meet at Quaker Steak and lube this saturday Aug 6th... starts at 5pm. i'll have my turbo 1st gen rx7 out as well. actually, there will be alot of supras as it's pretty much a supra meet i asked him for his dyno sheet, i'll get it tomorrow and take a pic or scan it. i know you all are haters but i'll show you the truth. he's worked hard on his car, him and his brother are fuggin auto gurus, especially when it comes to the 2jz's. we tuned his brothers is300 thursday morning before a beach trip and he did almost 450rwhp at 14psi with a GT40. both cars were dyno'd at CP RACING in charlotte, NC. ask them if you dont believe still. i'll try to get the dyno sheet up next time i'm on. PEACE

oh and you have the cym FD right? i havent seen you out in forever, maybe that's why even tho you are on the "in and in's" you dont know about this supra. you should bring your car out to the meet this saturday for real. it's gonna be fun. take care,

thats great too but its not the most dominant

the 2JZ is by far the hemi of japanese car engines IMHO..

like people praise the hemi like o it has a hemi, it has to be fast etc etc..

i think the 2JZ is the god of import engines..IMO, well the god of import engines produced in the USA..

I agree. The 2JZ is one of the best engineered motors in history. I also love the 3SGTE because of its potential power it can make. They use it in the Castro Supra.

the weekend i was in tulsa i saw the one you raced, and russel told me that since then he has upgraded turbos and making mid 600 hp now. it sounded mean when it took off (just pulled up then left, nothing special) the turbo was sooo loud. catch me on AIM sometimes i want to give you a quick link to something.

thought this shirt was appropiate.

It's like the old addage about Supras.

What do a 1200hp Supra and a 400hp Supra have in common?

They both run 12s.
