Not sure what all the fuss is about. Get a 3 rotor in a fc and 4 digits hp numbers are possible. Upgrade suspension, brakes etc. and you can smoke STi's all day for less than it would take them to even break the 500-600hp mark.
Just enjoy your car for what it is because in the end you could take a F1 car, drop a FC shell over it and call it a 7. That would show the subbie boys.

guys were talking about a normal WRX not an Sti. My s5 t2 took out my friends wrx with several runs(he had intake and catback) GRANTED i did have a racing beat full turbo back exhaust and a ported wastegate to control the increased psi. Ran stock psi (7.3+/-)which creeped to 10 psi. Other then that, it was stock.

I 'raced' a WRX (pretty sure it had some power modifications) at an autocross event, but it was my first time with my stock S4 TII which also isn't in top shape yet and I think the other guy had more time to learn his car. His times were around 1:29 I think and mine got down to 1:31.

and he finish at 15.8 @ 88.7mph
while the subaru did 15.3

AWD does weigh alot, I know it uses more gas to get around cause of this. For the volvo's anyway, it takes a bigger motor to get around w/ awd, they give you more horsepower cause you need it to at least keep up w/ if not beat the 2wd ones.
I'm just saying that my ADW turbo S60 would be faster in two wheel, and that I would prefer a rear wheel drive car for a drag race. But then again, I don't drag race.

This thread is funny, you guys speak of the WRX like they run 12s out of the box...AWD has its advantages but they're **** slow from a roll. Someone on a local forum I visit with bolt ons ran a 13.6 @ 97mph, pretty weak *** trap speed for a mid 13 second car. When I was running a ghetto rigged (-header) true dual setup my friend raced one from a roll with my car and said he lost by a car. A well running mildly modded TII should **** all over a stock WRX in a decent race, 1/4 only probably not. They run 14s out of the box with weak *** traps, not "fast" by any means, in my opinion anyway.
My friend had one, it was great to get pinned in the seat by the AWD in 1st and 2nd, but a pretty boring car otherwise, but then I'm not into rallying

Hmm... Think about this logically. Take into account that the subaru has 4wd and might have a little more horsepower... but it's big... weighs more than your FC. Now, without having a dyno graph for each car, and assuming that you're both doing a drag on street tires, I'd place bets on the subaru. But, if you've got decent tires and the LSD rear end in your FC, it's gonna bring your times down. But don't get away from the fact that the FC's suspension is better for the curves. Who cares if he can beat you in a straight line? You can catch him in the turns on a road corse! Both cars have their limits... but I'd choose the FC for handling. I think it's somewhat silly that people drag race FCs... They obviously werent built for it! If you want to drag, go get a mustang or a firebird.... or a chevelle... and join another forum. Oh, and don't go out and buy those "dtss eliminator bushings"... beleve me, your money would be better spent on a real drag car.

HAHAHA !!! i laugh at newbs who race on the streets with no turns. its all about how good u can turn and use the power under ur hood to propell it.. racing on the street is retartded. anyways. u will have to do alot o mods to beeat that beast... i suggest swaping in a 13b rew enigne into it. then modiing that as it is newer and stronger swap, newb

Look at it this way: when you get a FMIC, boost controller, fuel controller+tuning, better fuel pump and injectors and you max out the stock turbo YOU WILL CATCH UP and PROBABLY BEAT HIM. But when he gets the same SIMPLE mods like the ones I just posted where will you be???
OK, let's assume he comes and modifies his car the same as yours, he'll smoke you. You then want to show him you can STILL keep up/ BEAT him so you upgrade your turbo. BAM, you beat him. He gets all pissy and modifies HIS turbo. WHERE ARE YOU AT NOW?????

Considering theres a thread in the kills section now, though its a couple weeks old, about a member who's friend bought an old 90 or 91 Civic hatch back, took it auto-xing and beat all but four people, I think its definately possible. It may depend on where and when, what type of "race", but modest tuning and good driver skill will always trump modification. Its not called catch up, its called driving. I've personally been in the back of a heavily modified 03 WRX sedan that was unable to out run an unmodified AE86 SR5 through a tight mountain road. Granted the SR5 driver has ***** bigger than most, the WRX driver was a pretty boy who can't drive. On the track he has trouble passing stock Miatas. I recommend simple EX/SUSP/WHL mods and race him more fun/safe environment. I don't post a whole lot, but I'm growing weary of Phoenix7 abraisiveness. This a forum where people come to get help. Being cynical and telling everyone who posts they're stupid doesn't really help us as a community. Have you forgotten that some people who are new don't know their way around the archives? Did you forget that some newer members will rush to the nearset computer to ask a question based on a recent experience? Did you forget that some people learn by making mistakes? Joining a forum just to be turned away by unfriendly people is an Oxy-moron. This isn't Porsche Club. If you want to be dick, keep it to your self. That or major weight reduction,ive beat my firends WRX with my NA yes thats right NA! went from a 20 roll in first gear pulled instantly shifted to second and put another car on him. he was stock i was fully built and gutted. So yes you can beat them stock,if he starts modding then forget about it NA. if your turbo get some bolt on's.

I even took it out to the beach and drove through deep sand. Fun in a different way. Is it fast? No, but it's quick and gets 28mpg on freeway.
What is the big deal about beating a WRX? I would much rather be driving my WRX then some 20 year old TII that can barly beat it.

I had an intake and exhaust on my TII, and I raced a WRX with full exhaust and some other stuff... "enough" according to him.
1st time from a dig: he pulled about 2 cars on me, but I had him reeled in by the top of 2nd, and he was well behind me in 3rd.
2nd time, from a roll... yeah, he had NOTHING. I had 3-4 cars on him by the top of 3rd.
