'94 R2 vs '99 Kawasaki ZX-7R

The bike rider is actually a good friend of mine. The bike is a '99 Ninja ZX-7R (749cc), mods are yoshimoto slip on exhaust, and lower gearing. I cant remember the exact gearing drop, but it is fairly significant, the bike now tops out at ~160MPH due to the new gears. I used to ride with him back when I had my '04 Honda CBR600, and our bikes were dead even, before his gear change. Ok, onto the races. 1st time we lined up from 60MPH. He left the bike in 6th gear, as we were just playing around and thought that even from 6th he should be able to pull. I am in 3rd gear, and on 3 honks we take off. He immediately drops to my rear bumper through 3rd, and in 4th up to ~140MPH I put another ~1-1 1/2 carlengths on him. We decide to do another race, this time with him actually going from a good gear. We again line up at 60, I believe he said he was in 4th. 3 honks and we roll, this time with him jumping ahead about a car. He stayed there though 3rd, when I shifted to 4th I slowly pulled up on him until we were about neck and neck. I shifter to 5th, and we stayed wheel to wheel until ~150MPH where we both let off. I am very impressed at how well my FD was with him, and he was quite suprised as well. I will be taking my car to the strip this Saturday to see what I can so since my new round of mods, to back up my bike kill. I was running 14psi on my ProfecB. I love my FD

Haha, while I am really suprised at how fast my FD feels , the R6 is probably still a bit quicker than his 7R. The Kawasaki is a good 100lbs heavier than the newer 600cc bikes, with the same power. It just has a bit more torque.

i've seen a 400 whp FD run a 1000 and put two car lenths on him. not a real good rider. i was very impressed though. any car that can out run or run right next to a bike has my respect.

I guess he is retarded, or you mis heard him. At a 60 punch, i would be in 2nd gear on my bike at about 9k rpm on my R6. If he started in 4th from a 60 punch he would be at 3500 to 4k rpm, which i way below his powerband. It would be like starting at 2k rpm on a single expecting instant boost.

I may have mis-heard, but like I said with his new sprockets his gearing is very low. I have ridden it a few times since he changed them out, and even in 6th at 8krpm, if you crack the throttle open it pulls hard enough to throw you off if you arent careful.
