2 ricers and an FB killed

about a week or 2 ago i got my supercharged FC project (it was my daily driver and wasnt meant for a "project" but for all the hassle i went through, i'm calling it a damn project!) running. the first day i drove it back to work a few of the "car guys" at my job are basically bitting my ankles for a race. i told them no for now since i still had things i wanted done to it before i pushed it hard, but over the weekend i did those things. i installed a blow off valve, a new fpr and a different supercharger pulley for more boost. well last night when i went to work they are asking about the fc again so i told them i'd run them after work.

after showing off the car a little bit we get down to business and drive around the block to a small straight thats a little less than 1/4 mile with no lights or stops. of course the whole 4 minutes it takes to get there they're trying to **** with me but i wasnt gonna let them see the real power until we raced.we get there and i line up with the first guy. its a 91 eclipse non-turbo but he keeps braggin about his typical ricer mods( muffler with shiny tips, intake, chrome fenders? and rims). he also says the gear ratio has been changed for dragging.. his friend counts down for us and we pull.

i had NEAR ZILCH traction through first and shifted to second where the tires squeked and grabbed. from the go i had a good launch (minus thee traction issue) and im not sure if he had a bad one or what, but i led him by a carlength even with no traction! once my tires grabbed it was over. i immediately jumped up to lead hime by 4 lengths by third gear and now i'm 1/2 down the street and look back. ************* brake lights are reflecting off the trees and his friends car. he stopped?! i slow down and pull a u-turn and go back. he says he had a "bad launch" and he thinks he messed something up so he stopped....

next his friend wants to go and is talking about how he "could hear your s/c whining but it didnt do much for the sound it made". i told him it did enough to murder his friend he then tells me that he called another friend in the area that has an rx-7 and that he had told about my "project" and the dude had wanted to see it, so hes on his way. i say thats fine cuz he at least has enough sense to buy a real car.

we line up now. its a 93 or 94 civic with again typical mods. muffler, intake, spoiler, wrecked bumper, and a sound system. the eclipse guy counts and we pull off. this time i purposely nurse the throttle to not spin tires, but even without full throtle they spin a little and we come off the line pretty even, he might've actually had me by a fender. anyway, the tires catch and i pull up to even, overtaking about a bumper on him and shift.....hear the blow off valve....and gun it! my tires hopped and squeked and then it just pulled. this was a complete murder. by the time i shifted into third i have the guy by at least 5 lengths and shift to fourth, halfway through 4th have hime by ALOT and start to brake. streets ending.

once we were back to the sart where mitsu-boy is, we park and all get out and chat. they're fighting over who sucks more and decide to race. basically, the eclipse won. we wait and talk for a little more and the rx-7 guy gets there.well they didnt tell me it was an FB, so i was a little surprised. so he pulls up and we all talk for a bit and take a look under my hood and talk somemore and he compliments me on the s/c. i compliment him on the fb (even though its a piece of ****) he says that they didnt tell him i had an fc and thought i had an fb. then he says that he wanted to see how fast it was. he admitted that he'd get killed beforehand but wanted to race for *****. so we do. but not where we are, by now we wanna leave before the cops get called. so we all hed up to the interstate.

eventhough i beat the guy, that fb was fast from a roll. we started at about 35mph and pulled right up to 90 or so and he held with me at first and didnt slip behind by more that about 3 carlengths. i dunno what his mods were since he pulled off shortly after and it was already late so i wasnt gonna follow him. also, the whole time me and him were driving i could see the eclipse and civic messing around behind us. civic lost everytime....

good times.

gotta love the typical "mods": muffler, intake, spoiler, AND wrecked bumper.

o, and the vids are on page 4. those were taken proir to the new pulley, bov, fpr and gauges (which are all shown on pg 5). im consistently putting out 11-12lbs of boost now. my next target is a wrx. i have a friend with an '07 and he just put in a new turbo, front mount intercooler, boost controller and 3 in exhaust from the turbo back. i really hope the fc will take it down since hes got the best (although thats relative and i think mine is the best!) car in my "circle of friends". i raced him once before in a 3-way race with me, him and my cousin in his 87 turbo supra when i was n/a and mostly stock. the first pass i actually beat him off the line and led through first, then misshifted and lost by about 2 lengths. the second pass he mis-shifted and me and my cousin beat him ( with my cousin beating me).

yea, what was really great was the eclipse guy. he was like, "it dont matter what kinda numbers you're puttin down! my tight gear ratio lets me go from 0 to 60 like whoa!" and then didnt even finish the race since he had a "bad launch".

Oh man, whew; I read the title of the thread, and thought 2 ricers ran into an FB and killed the driver...

I really need to stop reading "kills" as deaths, lol

Nice job putting them in their place, and of course the FB was the fastest of the 3, haha. I also think the usual mods are funny. And it's also funny cause if you put those on a 7 you're getting something in return most of the time...you put those same mods on a Civic or Eclipse and you're not getting ****, haha. At least they were cool about it though and didn't act like they beat you or anything. I wonder if the Eclipse guy actually broke something though, haha. Kinda sounds like a ricer excuse to me.

woah, back from the dead! yea, i don't think so either since he drove the rest of the night and even beat the civic! o, and recently that same civic owner was talking about turboing his car and that the turbo kit he was looking at was gonna give him 250WHP and that i'll have to "watch my back". i just asked if he was sure that an SOHC 4-banger engine was capable of 250 at the wheels. then my ROTARY-loving *** had to explain to a piston-engine driver what SOHC was....noob.

Yeah I didn't realize it was older, I've been bored off my *** waiting for my plane to get out of the desert so I went through the first couple pages of the kills section last night, I bet a bunch of people hate me now cause yours wasn't the oldest thing I brought back I'm sure, haha.

You had to explain to him what SOHC was? HAHA. Wow. I'm not saying he would even get 250HP, but you never know, I've seen some crazy things. Hell ours are 1.3L and can make over 1000HP with enough money, so you never know.

haha, i dont care about bringing old posts back, its whatever to me. but yea, i'm not sure if anyone who doesn't know what the diff. between SOHC and DOHC is even derserves to call himself a ricer (well...he doesn't call himself a ricer....i do.) anyway, its true that the 13b is only 1.3l but you know what they say, "there's no replacement for displacement, unless its a rotary!. i'm not sure if he actually could squeeze 250 AT THE WHEELS from that engine without NOS, i'm not familiar enough with it, i mostly said it as a hurtful joke (by nature, i'm a mean person)

Yeah you seem like a real *******, LOL. j/p

Do you ever go to VIR? What part of VA are you? I'm not sure where your town is. I make it up to VIR every once in a while. And if you're not going yet, you should go to DGRR, it's a blast!

thanks. the best part is really the response. don't get me wrong, extra power is always welcome however you get it (turbo, s/c, porting, etc) im just kinda more interested in a well-balanced, whollistically tuned vehicle. in that respect, response is one of the things i was looking to maintain, and the s/c definately did that. although there is just a small amount of what some would call "lag", its only until about ~2200rpm or so. and when your REALLY racing (whether it be drag, auto-x, etc) your never below that level anyways.

so....the FB was a pos? or are you calling all FB's POS? cause man, my FB is fun as hell to drive, may not be as fast as yours but come on. That being said, maybe when I'm not so poor I'll get an FC, maybe an FD, but not within the next 5 years lawl.
