1992 Mazda MS8 got killed by a COW!!
One random night I was at the pub chatting up this chick and I get a phone call from my dad who was driving down from Auckland (New Zealand) that night (about 700kms away) and he told me that he has just hit a cow but that both he and his gf were ok. Now most people would be like oh my god, you ok, but my dad being the way he is i took it for a joke and started laughing my head off!! Turns out it was no joke, he had been doing 160kph down state highway one, slowed to 90kph for a turn and when he got around it there were 3 cows crossing the road in a line!!
So basically he had nowhere to go with a ditch either side of him and three cows on the road he decided to brace himself, plant his foot as hard as he could into the brakes and hope for the best!!!
At the point of impact he hit the cow and it flipped up it the air and landed on the roof of his car causing it to hit his head, the windscreen was crushed onto his fingers as he was holding onto the steering wheel for dear life. His gf was lucky and I dont even think she was hurt but the cow and the car were the casualties of the night.
Anyway after the phone call I realised that I had to go and pick him up, this was the next problem. My FD was currently in my garage minus an engine and my drive car was a clapped out mitsy with a water leak, i doubt it would make the 120km journey. Luckily the girl that I was chatting up offered up her own car for the drive (1997 Toyota Levin BZR) now normally I am not a fan of such vehicles but I dont normally have to pick up my dad cause hes just totalled his car by hitting a heffa! so off we go and remembering I had only met this girl an hour before, I nail it down the motorway bringing the little toy car up to about 160kph (would have been faster in my FD) all the way but slowing for the small towns on the way. At this stage I am guessing she didnt think her little car would go that fast, oh well. We get past a little town called Bulls and i would have been doing 160-170 and I see a cars lights coming towards me, no radar and my brain in "get my dad mode" I didnt slow, turns out it was a cop. So as I passed him I see the red and blues, I didnt brake just kept going and that was all I saw of him.
We arrive at the little town to find my dad cold, shaken and cuts on his head and hands. The car was a total write off, roof caved in and front end all smashed up from trying to mate with a 800kg bovine. there was cow crap all over the car as it released its bowels on impact! it was a quick eath for the cow, pretty much dead on impact.
I just hope that this never happens in my FD!!
Oh yeah and I got the girl, for awhile anyway!

Damn that sucks
I'm so sorry, glad everyone's alright and hope things work out for your dad and his car/insurance. As for the cow, it deserved to die it knows better than to cross the street and not even look twice before crossing

But seriously, good luck with everything!!

Thanks for all your support, this happend about 3 or 4 years ago now but I still think of it, pretty scary thought though, just imaging driving down any busy highway and finding 3 stupid *** cows casually crossing the road!
Steak burger anyone?

And you still have the girl, she must have liked your driving.
here is a pic of an MS8 that I pulled off a site here in New Zealand and you can tell by the pic that they are not exactly designed for hitting cows!
