1981 Rx-7 Kills a Riced out 2002 Saturn

Well, this race came to be because he did date my current girlfriend for 2 months and always used to talk a bunch of car stuff to her. Stupid things like "I drift my saturn", "Right-hand drive vechiles arent legal in the US", "The neon lights give me a extra 10 hp". . Seriously this is what this guy had said to her. SO, yesterday he's going back to her dorm room to get some of his stuff he left there from a while ago, happens to be I'm spending the night @ her dorm and I'm there when he arrives. So finally being able to confront this poor excuse for a " car enthusiest " - cough-ricer -cough- to his face about his car that he can drift.. (lmfao). Instead of me doing him a favor by beating his ***, after a few choice words. He asks me "Well, what car do you drive?!" I told him I owned a 7, he gives this look of "WTF?!? IS THAT?!". Knowing he doesnt know a DAMN thing about a rx-7 or what she can do, he challenges me to a race for 2 miles (he says his car has GREAT top end, I laugh) on I- 476 (PA) last night. Reluctently I agree to his challenge, and to make it interesting (since he's crazy pyscho and wont leave her alone), I tell him if I win he has to leave Mina alone and to never talk to her AGAIN. . . he in his 2f2f mode quickly agrees and asks if he wins he wants me to break up with her (AS IF!). Me knowing already that the only REAL "power" mod he has done to his car is a fart can, and a cold air intake (and btw his car is a auto). He asks what kind of mods I have done to my car, I go into detail about the street port, the RB exhaust, RB intake manifold, and new carb (I see his eye quark up at the sound of carb). . .

We agree to meet up @ her college to do this last night @ 2a.m

So it comes down to me and him driving out to I-476 from Byrn Mawr (all girls college . . . need I say more?), I tell him we'll go from a 30mph roll (three honks n all) and stop when HE is sure who the winner is (knowing I'm going to slaughter him). So we continue our little illegal escapade (sp?) on 476. The roll begins and I give him One, Two, Three honks and we're off! I run out second, as soon as I slam it I've pulled almost a car length on him, shift into third, another car length and pulling hard. . by the time i got out of third and into fourth I think he gave up, cause from then on it was as if he let off his accel. because in my rear-view, I can clearly see both of his headlights getting farther and farther away. Fourth, nail in the coffin, run out fourth and its as if he's in a different county. BUS LENGHTS BACK. I shift into fifth and put on my hazards letting him know that I'm not wasting anymore of my gas. . and slowing down. As I'm slowing down he's coming up quick on me (ricer fly-by incoming). . and pulls one off, Mina & Myself both start laughin @ him, thats the last I saw of him ;-). The 7 can't loose.

RAcing for the girl . . in a way yes. .But more or less just to get him to leave her alone cause he's crazy.

O_16581 - Torque Steer & look how far you can upgrade the integra before it becomes TS. I dont need to say anything further hopefully. Shut up and enjoy your honda. If you dont have anything positive to say, please butt outta my threads :-) . Thanks and have a nice life!

You said something negative about something you obviously know nothing about. I'm running an open differential on 230whp (will be 300whp soon), the only time i have torque steer issues is when i'm not firmly holding the wheel, ITRs have limited slip stock virtually eliminating torque steer. What about a 2,200lb RWD with the kind of power? It's the same concept keeping the rear straight.

Every thread i click on has some kind of negative ignorance, i'm not following it around, i just read it.

Before it becomes TS? I don't know what you mean.

I'm sure you are just trying to be nice about it, but no cavalier is a "nice" car. They are the worst, most dangerous, poorly built, death trap excuses for a "modern" car. By no means am I saying that cavaliers cannot be fast, I am just saying that they arent exactly prime examples of FWD performance, or any sort of automotive excellence, unless you are talking about cost comparisons.

ROFL. I know a guy with a 60-1, well use to be a 60-1, on his cavi. 12.8 in the 1/4 on stock internals. The Cavi ate the 60-1 not sure what he's putting in it now but it will be bigger.

Back on topic, burning rice always makes you feel good no matter what car he's driving.

Type-r = 62.7 mph slalom
FD = 66.4 mph

Typer-r 1/4 = 15.2
FD 1/4 = 14.0

What was i looking for?

Don't look at Slalom speeds unless they're taken from the same source, there's alot of variables that alter slalom speed. Some sources say the IT-R has a faster speed.

1/4 mile has nothing to do with this.

As for you Goth boy, read what i quoted, two cars with performance handling in mind to compare.

IT-R pulls an 8.9Gs. Same as the AWD R34 Skyline and better than all Rx-7s aside from the FDs. I looked up the FD and it's a .97, another site is saying .91 (i was thinking it was .92), i can't get a solid number for it. All sites give the IT-R about a .89, Rx-7s vary from around .78-.89 until the FD.

There's the Renault "Sport Clio RS" that pulls a .90 Skidpad.

FWD isn't as bad as people make it out to be, just because it's not your preference doesn't mean it sucks. I've seen a FWD rally car place 2nd in a race against AWD cars, plenty of Touring Cars are FWD.

Both where from the same sight. I do agree though FWD isn't terible, i'd rather have a FWD car in the snow then a RWD car i'll tell you that much. Different strocks for different focks. This is for a different thred though, this guys talking about his race not FWD vs RWD vs AWD.

Alright, its nice of you to re-elaborate the meaning of your comment and all, but whats this goth boy ****? That pic I posted, which was about 2 months ago, how does that make me goth? So I have long hair and I was wearing a black shirt, big deal! Wearing black articles of clothing and having long hair doesn't make you gothic. I may be atheist, but that doesn't mean I'm gothic. And yes I'm gonna get slightly defensive over you calling me a goth because its something I'm not. Nothing wrong with gothic people- some of the best people I know are gothic- but I take offense to being judged as something I am not. So, I shall end this post with a simple good day and I hope your rectum implodes.

IMO, and not that I want to offend anyone, but the reason why I don't think FWD should be used in anything performance is 1. Tire wear after extended laps and 2. Wheelspin at higher hp. The layout of the drivewheels is pertinent in both circuit/road and drag. With drag, FR's of the same weight need lower whp than FF's, all other variables held constant. It's just a consequence of the weight-shift upon acceleration. With circuit, using the front tires to brake, accelerate and corner wears the tires more so than a car that uses the front tires to brake and corner only.

Still, a lot of touring cars are FF, look at Speedworld Challenge, there's plenty of RSX's, TSX's and Mazda6's. Rally is also a good playground for FF's, since stability is desired on surfaces with poor traction. FF is fine for moderate level racing, but once you get to the ultimate form, high hp, low weight racing, (Le Mans, F1, etc...) you will never see FF since the concept of FF was more out of a concern for safety and making sure non-skilled drivers won't spin out while leaving the lot with their new cars (exaggeration, but u sorta see my point)
