05 GTO was fast but...............

As I was exiting the freeway, a dark GTO pulled in behind me. I was the first car in my lane, making a left turn. I made the turn and waited at about 35 mph. He started to go by, so I accelerated to about 45 to get even, then we both hit it at the same time. I pulled couple of feet on him at the end of 2nd, but I shifted a little late, and didn't gain any ground for a moment. Once in 3rd, I pulled to almost 1/2 a car length before having to slow down for a stoplight. I'm all smiles as he pulls up next to me at the light. He's shocked, and says "what have you done to that thing???". I reply "just a few little things, nothing big. How long have you had the GTO?". Almost 3 years." I ask, "is it stock?". "No. I have an exhaust and air filters". The light changed, and we were off at normal speeds.

Nice guy. I haven't had a race in a while, so it really felt good to have beaten a fast car ........ with some mods

Nice kill. '05's were LS1 5.7's with something like 350hp (crank). I've driven an '06 model with the LS2 6.0 rated at 400hp, and I was pretty damn impressed. Those suckers move for their weight.

Yeah, but look at the weights of each. Also, I personally prefer the looks of the GTO over F-Bodies. Granted, they are a little bland, but I hate the shape of T/A's and Camaros. Slap the front bumper, sideskirts, and rear bumper of a Holden Monaro on the GTO and it will be BEAUTIFUL!

Yeah, but if they hook up, you're looking at high/mid 13's with th LS1's and mid/low 13's, possibly high 12's from the LS2's.

^Probably good for an additional 25-40hp at the flywheel.

The GTO's with the LS2's are no joke.

400 stock, imagine intake, cam and exhaust which are pennies on a dollar. Wow...

I ******* love those cars.

You can get one for 25k these days, too. My only issue with them is that they are SO bland looking. You cannot argue with their performance, though.

God Bless,
