i just wanted to stop in and show my respects the tha rotary owners. I currently own a Supra MKIII and here in anywhere from 6 months to 1 year (depending on savings) I'll be looking to rid myself of the big body inline 6, for a sleeker, smaller FD. Anyways I'll be visiting regularly and maybe asking some questions I can't find the answer to with the "Search" button, and be trying to familiarize myself with these superb cars, so that I have a wee bit o knowledge on them when i buy mine. I hope to meet many friends here, and hope to learn a lot. If you have any questions just ask, be more then happy to asnwer.

So if I may ask my first question.
What is to cheap to spend on a 7 and whats to much?
I've been reading on things to look for when looking at used 7's and it's been very helpful. I tried searching for used prices but didn't come up with anything that I could see. I don't want to get raped by someone on a price, but I also don't want to go in cheap on one and risk spending 3 times as much to fix it to a durable state when spending an extra grand or two might have gotten me a better car.

Although i'm only 23, I think like an old man. I am after something in great running condition that runs great and doesn't need thousands of dollars of work to work like stock. I'm after a 7 that is completely untouched by aftermarket and more then likely a non smoker, and is in good condition inside and out.

As far as buying an FD, watch the classifieds for a while. You will learn a lot and get a feeling of what is a good price from it. This is how I've done all my research, and I've bought 2 FC's from the boards.
finding one "completely untouched by aftermarket " will be tough... most of the original untouched ones have likely popped a motor by now or are about due. remeber the last year of production was 1995 so we're talking 13yrs.
That said, I have been cruising the FD classifieds for several years on and off and the sweet spot seems to be around 15k for a very nice, well-sorted example. A good be would be 94-95 model with a fresh engine and fresh non-sequential twins, with moderate reliability modifications. Should have around 100k on the chassis at this point. This price should include a freshened suspension, interior in good shape, good a/c and p/s, etc.
Higher price buys bigger wheels, more shiny bits, etc. Lower priced vehicles generally come with compromises or a story.

Very well said bro. I guess I should have specified what I meant by untouched. I meant basically I didn't want any aftermarket performance mods. Things can be replaced or done for the beneficial durability of the car (Ie; new engine, tranny, etc) I just didn't want like a car with a whole custom or aftermarket cluster of gauges or clutches, or tuned engine or exhaust. Just wanting something all oem. If they are OEM replacement parts yeah thats fine. see where I'm going here? I'm basically wanting a fresh slate for me to play with. nothing thats already been built in someone elses image.
