This Will Be Interesting
Hey All,
New to the RX7 & the Rotary Engine. So what do I start with? With an SA that hasn't run for about 3 years (photos attached.)
The previous owner was a mechanic and is pretty sure the MMO treatment will work, though if it doesn't I suppose it will be fun to (eventually) rebuild the engine.
On the plus side it's been garaged most its life. The body seems sound though I need to have a better look at the undercarrige. Plenty of dings outside, but fixable.
If you look at the attached photos you might see something missing. If anyone has a '79 or 1st Gen Hood, it'd be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for all the technical help. I've already read many of the posts, which I'll be using to get it running.

Well, now. You've introduced the car pretty well, so how about a little about you? What made you go rotary? How long did you have to wait before you found the car you wanted? Heck, what's the name? This is the "Introduce yourself" board, after all.
To me, being hoodless is the perfect opportunity to save up and get a flat CF hood for the car now. In the meantime, you 've got great access, you just can't work outside.
Welcome aboard and thanks for registering with the RX-7 Club !!

I put a little more in my post "Thanks in Advance - Another Resurection"
Parents owned an '81 back in the day. I've wanted a project car for over a decade and finally got the space to undertake on. I kicked around some different ideas, but when I remembered the 7 and read up on it I was immediately sold. Looked for about a month and almost gave up (at least temporarily.) I happened to be surfing craigslist last week and found a listing that was perfect. Took a chance, called the guy and picked it up two days later. Best birthday present I've gotten myself.
I don't have a huge budget for it, so the biggest challenge will be patience to get the parts and pieces I need, hence why I'm starting with the labor intensive body work.
As for the hood, this car won't be moving for a bit, and I'm fortunate to have a warehouse to garage it and work on it in, so It'll be well kept.
Thanks for your interest, check out my restore thread mentioned above. Being both my first real restore and my first rotary it should be fun.

Well, it sounds like you've got everything you need minus a little cash to begin a great adventure! It also sounds like you've got the discipline to pull it all off in swimming fashion. Hit the classifieds for parts and always mention your budget situation, we've got a lot of big hearts here at de Club!
