CA When do we start learnin' how to drift??!?

Hello, my name's Joe and I'm new to the forum. I've been a motorcycle fanatic (07 GSXR 600 & 07 GSXR 750/trackday junkie) and long ago, a muscle car fanatic (75 Firebird w/ a crate Chevy ZZ4 engine, and have decided to expand my horizons. I just bought my first 7, a 94 tt touring, 110k on the chassis, 7k on a rebuilt motor w/ new BNR turbos, silver w/ black leather interrior. I'm at work right now, so I'll load up some pics later today or tomorrow. Looking forward to getting some good info from the site and I was considering checking out that THill mustache day coming up here in a couple weeks (I'm mustache-less). See ya on the road/track!

Welcome to the club, and congrats on your recent purchase.

You can start learning how to drift on the city streets, just watch out for the po-po .

start with a track driving learning course, our something through the SCCA or other sanctioned racing body. Learn to drive fast before you practice getting sideways. I don't have a problem with people drifting FDs, I have a problem with people who use them as their first drift car. If you want to learn how to drift, by an FC to trash (also my plan)

Drifting is stupid and dangerous and expensive.

I would HIGHLY NOT recommend drifting on the street. I have friends who have totalled or severely damaged their cars by street drifting and they have years of experience (totalled 95 M3, damaged S13 w/ SR20DET and Silvia front).

Look for local drift events. You're in California, the heart of drifting. There's no excuse. There's 10+ per season in our short drift season up here in Smalbany NY, yours is year round!!!!

Good luck, be smart, be safe.

Don't buy an fc to beat up. Go buy a 240 there needs to be less of them on the street.
And some people like fc's and could use them. For something other than trashing up

i have a 90 TII convertible (J-SPEC) and i wouldn't risk trashing it for anything. I'm in Germany so I use the autobahn and the track to top it out (max speed right now is 263K's. I'm waiting on my Greddy e-01, e-manage, and fuel cut defenser to get here be for i try to top it out again). when i drift here it's only on a local track. I had to install a racing (sparco) seat and 4 point racing harness just to get on the track lol.
