Teej from North Atlanta w/ 85 GSL-SE

Hi all. I have a 1985 Mazda RX7 GSL-SE. I've had it for over 20 years. Ran it alot back in my college days. Then got married and kids so made it sit for over 15 years.
Well now it's time to try and rebuild the 7. In decent shape, but has some mechanical issues.
Currently trying to identify all the upgrades I would like to make while maintaining some of the original charm.

Ready for the remake. I'm hoping to have it painted before the end of summer.

If you're a traveling/roving mechanic that likes working on 7s, I could use some help. Hit me and I'll invite you over for a few beers....Teej

Overall the body is in really good shape. It has a few rust spots but I think these should be easily overcome.

Ok Ladies and Gents....

After several false starts, it now finally appears that the rebuild/restoration on this 85 GSL-SE is going to happen. Working with a couple of guys stepping into the restoration business. They both formerly owned 1st Gens and agreed to take on my project. Thus far we we have started stripping down the car in preparation for many hours of body prep.

I'm feeling optimistic that this start will culminate with my fun ride on the streets by early next year. I'll do my best to post pics as the project progresses.

Hi there! After reading a million topics on this site after all these yrs, this is my first comment. First of all, I wanted to say that I am happy you kept your car after all these years & it’s in great shape! I remember when my dads best friend bought a brand new 1982 red Rx-7, I fell in love & I was only a 6 yr old girl! I told my dad, when I grow up...I want one! My dad bought me a 2nd Gen for me right out of high school. Moved to Atlanta 1 1/2yrs later & had to have a 3rd Gen! After 3 mths in, my dad co-signed for me to have the latest dream car. I had haters telling me to sell the POS so many times. Needless to say, I didn’t listen. We will celebrate 23 yrs together in April. I still have my baby. My car has been in my garage collecting dust for the past 10+ yrs & on June 30th, I have decided to resurrect it from the dead. I’ve missed the feeling of driving it. Everything works. Just had all the fluids flushed out & I will keep everything stock with some upgrades like rims & audio. Good luck on your journey & maybe I will see your 1st Gen at Caffeine & Octane one day!

Michelle

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.
Taking RXtasy3's recommendation and continuing this in the build section
https://www.rx7club.com/build-thread...build-1131527/

If you still have your ride, please post your pics. I would love to see them.
Once I get it right I'll be sure to stop by Caffeine & Octane.
Thanks,
Teej

Super glad you kept the car over the past 20 years. So many people sell their cars when they have kids only to regret it later. Will be following your build thread. Welcome back.
