SoCal FD wanna be

Hi,
My name is Andrew. I am an east coast transplant currently residing in Huntington beach CA. I have always been in love with the sexy/timeless design of the FD RX-7. I have also heard what a fickle biatch they can be to own.
My current DD is an 08 civic Si, and my 2nd car is a '69 camaro. i would sell the civic for the RX. The camaro runs like a champ and I've driven everyday for weeks at a time before no problem(16mpg too)
My 1st question is if I where to attempt to have an FD as a primary driver what's with the flooding issue? I have read posts that say just rev it to 3k rpms before you shut it off or install a button that turns off the fuel pump. It would be silly to own a car that I cant drive somewhere, come back out and not start.
Secondly, I've read where people say just get a roller chassis and rebuild everything right the first time(sounds pricey) vs buy a rebuilt fairly stocker(seems shady)vs low mile original(gremlins from sitting?). Whats really the best way to go? I was thinking just buy one thats done already with a single turbo and v mount such as this

The only reason I'm even considering this is that I live in SoCal an this might be the only place outside of Japan with this much local support(shops/owners)
I even live right around the corner from neptunespeed!
sorry for the long post

seems like a decent car but doesn't say how many miles on the motor. Read the Buyer's Guides in the FAQ thread for things to look for. 1st thing to figure out is compression test especially on a motor with that many miles.

Single turbo won't pass smog in cali also so...

I was not aware of this. Thanks.
After reading alot more threads on here I'm becoming a bit discouraged with the idea of having a RX-7 for anything more then a toy for the weekends unless I want to potentially sink ungodly amounts of money into it to keep it tip-top

This car makes maintance on a M3 almost seem minor
