Rx7-5x
I am an Rx7 owner since about 1980 when I bought a red SE. Have loved the car ever since. I did have a 280z with about 300k miles. I worked at the Auto Auction in Oceanside, and bought a yellow 85 rx7 there using a dealer friend. I have since accumulated 6. I still have my first one that was wrecked by a person crossing in front of me. (Bummer). Right now I am having electrical trouble with my 84 gs. No power to the fuel pump. And I have troulble with the light switch on another one. No low beam. So I am looking for a few answers.

Hi Bill. Welcome to RX-7CLUB!
Sounds like you like these cars as much as I do.

You might try the First Gen section.
I'm sure a few of those guys can help you with the electrical troubles you are having.

we have tracked the fuel pump problem to up under the dash somewhere. I wonder what the proceedure is to get at the FUEL CUT RELAY. I haven't seen any desriptions as to how to get at it. I really don't want to take out the dash.:...:Ah, yes, I am very happy with my rx7's. Best thing is I can ususally fix them myself.
When I was in College in Fort Collins back about 1965-70 I roomed with a guy named Tom from the Willamette Valley. He had a TR-7 that he drove out here. That's pretty much when I decided I like those quick, nimble 2 seaters. I saw a Datsun 2000(?) parked along a side street...red...beautiful...Those 2 things made me want one. I had thought I want a Miata, too, but I've collected too many rx7's and until they die the death, I'm gonna keep 'em.
I had given up, because winter was coming on and I had to get my yard and some of my customer's yards in shape for winter. I have the car parked in the garage, up on lifts. But I sure had a devil of a time ascertaining the whereabouts of the 'ctu relay'. But I have been reading some of the archives and I guess I will look on the steering column again. To manual shows it higher up, like about behind the tachometer. One person said it is on the upper part of the steering column. I will have to go check it out. One problem, when I took the igniters off, I pryed up on the Alternator to get it out of the way, and I broke the oil metering connections. I ran the car for about 3 miles before it just plain quit. I am not sure yet if I damaged the rotor housings, or the apex seals. But If I can find the cut relay and get it to run, I guess I'll find out. My mechanic friend said I could wire from the battery to the pump, (and use a switch, if I wanted to) just to see if it runs ok. Thanks for your tip. We were having computer trouble also at the Library, which took a few days to resolve. Things are a mess, sometimes....
